Summary
Jack Kross only wanted to play the game. Now he’s fighting for his life.
When a mysterious hacker takes control of Hundred Kingdoms, Jack is trapped inside the fantasy VR world along with millions of other players. But Jack is in a worse predicament. He’s cornered in the very tower the terrorists have taken as their base; the only free player left within its walls. Even worse, in the real world, his body lies in a sweltering room with no hope of relief.
Playing the profession-based Scavenger class, and at a low level, Jack’s prospects of fighting his way out are next to impossible. Crafting gear, traps, and weapons, allying with a deadly dungeon master and an AI he can’t fully trust, Jack is in a race against time to save not just himself but the millions of players held hostage.
Battle Spire is a meeting of World of Warcraft and Die Hard, using crunchy LitRPG mechanics with a heavy focus on crafting. Listeners can expect to find in depth item and spell descriptions, along with stat tables and profession recipes.
Note: strong language is used throughout.

Really good Crafting and Action
Im always impressed when someone comes up with a novel way of playing the game so it is with Battle Spire as our main MC manages to take advantage of a situation and craft/loot his way up the ranks whilst taking on seriously high levels with nifty tricks and ingenious use of materials.
I enjoyed the story behind the main action and i think the characters have a lot of potential for a lot more stories.
Narration is from the usual SBT crew so is spot on as always.

Simply amazing!
At first I wasn’t sure I liked this book, because the main character acted like a wimp but with time I listen as Jack grows up and solves his issues and it was really pulling me in. Overall this was a great LitRPG and recommend it to anyone that likes the genre.
It’s also worth mentioning that people from soundbooth did a great job. This was my first book with Justin but Jeff is my favourite narrator and Annie is close behind.

Brilliant
I love all Michael r miller books except maybe the first part of the dragons trilogy but even then that grew on me with time. A great read in the LITRPG/MMORPG style 👍

Damn good stuff
Loved it. Audio quality was surprisingly high, and both narrators were excellent. It's always satisfying when you get a narrator who can sound like completely different people on demand.

A litRPG that emphasizes the missing elements
The author captured the missing elements of modern RPGs, such as rewarding wits and quick thinking. The MC employs various amounts of out of the box thinking that keeps you interested in what he'll be doing next, without it even becoming dull when a move gets repeated.

A refreshing and enjoyable take on LitRPG
All too often in these sorts of stories the main character ignores the crafting/profession elements of the game they are in as a distraction for their questing/levelling or the author does as a distraction from the plot, but this went the other way. The main character chose a class that is mostly ignored by others as worthless or no fun and found a way to make it work. It was fun to read how he crafted his way out of or around problems and made for a refreshing change.
There were all the elements you expect in a LitRPG story, with stats, character sheets and quests but without going over the top. The writing style was relaxed and reading it flowed easily, drawing me into the story until I frequently realised I had been reading far longer than I had intended!
Here's hoping for a sequel about the further exploits of Zoran...
The performances were excellent imbuing the dialog with real emotion that can sometimes not come across all that well when reading. The narration was crisp and clear, summarising stats etc for some of the game elements that people can sometimes complain about in LitRPG audible stories.
Highly recommend

Addictive fun
As a UK listener I'm sometimes anxious sbout listening to US audio. Accents or pronunciations can pull you out of the story, but this wasn't the case. Within 5 minutes I was fully absorbed. The performance was engrossing and high quality, the story enjoyable and I found it hard to stop listening.

Prime example of a LitRPG
It's a complete story and has a complete arc. Really well written with not too much stats to make me bored of listening to numbers, but just enough for it to all make sense.
Also loved the clear and excellent voices of the narrators.
If you want a story to see if you enjoy LitRPG stories, then this is a prime example of one.
