About this listen

Contains books four, five, and six of the action-packed space opera Ascension series.

Join the crew of the Athena, Earth’s most advanced spaceship, as the ultimate journey continues. The crew will risk everything to unravel the mystery of an ancient alien race whose wars nearly destroyed the galaxy. On Earth, people must accept that the world as they knew it is gone.

The Xiiginns are coming to pull Earth into the crosshairs of an interstellar war. Kaylan will risk the Alliance to uncover the secrets of the Boxan home world and mount a daring rescue mission for those left behind, and the Athena and her crew will struggle to keep the Star Alliance from splintering apart by offering them something unthinkable.

A journey that began when the brave crew of the Athena left Earth to investigate an alien structure discovered in the furthest reaches of the solar system will come to a spectacular end.

The The Ascension Series

I found this story to be very good listening & very enjoyable. There are 6 books in total & each one is as good as the last. Jeff Hays is very, very good at narrating.

enjoyed it but

enjoyed it and as others have stated the are a lot of he/ she said but that is to be expected.

for me however what wasn't so great was the demise of one key person, that person didn't come about as arrogant to fall into the James Bond baddie category... he'd have just killed the alien

is much better post love triangle, makes the the series worth reading.

Ken outdid himself in the last three books of the series. From a soiled 1st book to a 2nd and 3rd ruined by a love triangle, I was really 50/50 on the whole series. but Volume 2 fixed nearly all the problems from the love triangle.
the story was on point, all but 1 character were on point and Worldbuilding as soiled as always.

I still feel like mass effect was a huge inspiration for this series, which I love. now for the bad stuff.

the love triangle really ruined one of the characters for me. After the 2nd book and all the way till the end. that being Kaylan. I can't explain it but despite being well write and developed I find myself rolling my eyes with her.

story 4/5
characters 3/5
Worldbuilding 5/5
