Summary
What happens when a sassy drag queen falls for his brother’s best friend?
Eli Baker needs a job. Drag isn’t paying the bills and the life of a starving artist isn't as fun when he’s the one living it. Taking a temporary office job is meant to be a quick fix. It's not supposed to reintroduce him to the funny, sharp, and sweet Tristan Rose…who just so happens to be Eli's oldest brother’s best friend.
Eli can’t stand his brother, and the feeling is more than mutual. Getting involved with Tristan could mean family trouble, but Eli's never been one for following the rules, especially when breaking them means annoying his brother.
Tristan is far too intriguing to ignore, especially when he takes an interest in Eli’s life outside the office. He’s not at all what Eli expects, and maybe that’s exactly what Eli needs. But if push comes to shove, will Tristan choose Eli over his best friend?
Always Eli is a 78,000-word contemporary MM romance featuring fabulous drag shows, secret biscuits, an office romance, and numerous siblings who can't help getting involved.

Love Eli so much
Like most audiobooks I listen to, this was a reread for me.
I absolutely love Eli he is an ott drag queen full of drama and sass the I just want to hug then had a cocktail or two with.
Finding himself short on cash Eli starts a temp admin job, only to find that is old brothers best friend works there. But Eli soon finds out that Tristan is nothing like Richard.
Richard always makes Eli feel bad about himself and and this makes Eli hide his job and relationship from him. This leads to a rather dramatic yet hella funny fight in their parents garden.
Tristan is Eli’s opposite and often claims that he is boring but they are 100% made for each other.
There is a D/s dynamic in their bedroom scenes however this is light and I loved every moment (I definitely loved bossy Eli)
As always I loved Charlie’s writing (girl can do no wrong is my eyes) and Dan Calley is just perfection.

Always Eli is always perfect!
Charlie Novak is an absolutely wonderful writer - her books are full of love, humor and her trademark snark. Dan Calley was an excellent choice to do the narration - brought warmth, lovely humor and perfection to the characters. Absolutely adore this!

A good mix of sweet and spicy, super entertaining
Eli dreams of doing drag for a living, but when finances are low, he accepts a temp job as an admin assistant. He finds himself working with Tristan, his older brother’s best friend. The older brother Eli can’t get along and is constantly fighting with.
Only Tristan is not quite as judgemental and dismissive as Eli’s brother and as they get to know each other better the attraction and the connection between them is undeniable.
I love how they seem to fit together like puzzle pieces, and the fact that there is practically zero angst in the book.
Also, Eli, besides being a drag queen, is also quite dominant in bed, which happens to suit Tristan just fine, and the intimacy between them is super hot and steamy enough to fog windows!
Love Eli’s crazy, loud and nosy family!

So much fun :)
Story: I must say I was enamored with Eli from the very first moments. He's a really interesting mix of a dominant dramatic diva with a sweet streak a mile wide. You almost get whiplash when reading the book, as he is completely unpredictable in the bests of ways. Then there is Tristan, who appears to be his complete opposite, but is actually not and develops beautifully throughout the story.
The whole book, including the Eli's large colorful family, is an absolute delight and a perfect companion for a low-angst read!
Performance: Good performance and a very pleasant voice.

Fantastic!
Dan Calley has bought one of my favourite Charlie Novak couples to life in the most wonderful way!
We met Eli in Proficiency Bonus (Lewis & Jason) as Eli is Lewis' older brother. Eli is flamboyant, and unapologetically fabulous, along with his drag persona 'Bitch Fit' - who is like a MySpace noughties pop punk princess come to life (just like my teen life!). When Eli finds himself struggling to make ends meet doing drag full time, he takes a temp job at an estate agents that primarily focuses on homes for those rich and wanting. Little does he know whose waiting for him at the office.
Tristan is a really handsome sweet country boy, kind of like a Disney prince. He's Eli's brother Richard's best friend, and if you've read Proficiency Bonus, you probably already dislike Richard because he is a Dick. Tristan has a sense of loneliness about him, he doesn't really go out, have many hobbies and often calls himself boring. So when he bumps into his polar opposite in Eli, he's met with a strange feeling: attraction, especially since all he knows about Eli is how 'reckless' he is from Richard's constant ranting. It's an absolute joy to read as Eli helps him step out of his comfort zone, and he allows himself to enjoy life to the fullest, which is what Eli is all about. He isn't reckless, he just lives his life as if every day is his last, and embraces life. They bring balance to one another, and Tristan's undeniable support and adoration he has and shows towards Eli is beautiful. He makes sure that Eli knows he loves him for who he is, and wouldn't change him for the world.
Eli and his brother Richard have an incredibly volatile relationship. Richard sees life different to Eli, and struggles to comprehend that Eli is living his life the way Eli wants to live. There is underlying care to Richard, but he goes about it all the wrong way. He lives up to his namesake of 'Dick'. He constantly makes Eli feel like he's a disappointment, and although he doesn't let it show that the words his brother speaks hurt, they do cut quite deep.
So when it's time for Eli and Tristan to announce their relationship, you can just imagine how this goes down. Tristan is caught in the middle of the brotherly feud, and it's time to lay down the law that he is not an object.
Always Eli has a very light D/s concept, and I mean it's very light. The concept is there, however it's not fully played out on page. I always love seeing cameo's from previous book couples, so I thoroughly enjoyed visits from Jay and Leo (Natural Twenty), Edward and Izzy (Charisma Check), Lewis and Jason (Proficiency Bonus).
As with all of Charlie's books, they are sweet, low angst and bring all the warm feels whilst still being steamy. Eli and Tristan balance each other out in the best possible way.
Also Tristan's dogs are called Indy and Solo! I mean how can you not adore him for that alone.
Oh, and I need Orlando's story in my life. Like I NEED it!

Sweet and Fabulous!!
Gotta love a good trash goblin and fantastic 90s era throwbacks!! Eli is fantastic and Bitch Fit is fabulous and together they are a complex and compelling character!
Tristan is so sweet and endearing and the perfect balance for Eli! Their chemistry is off the charts and I feel like there was so much more to discover with these two!
I liked the "boy" dynamic and that is was "different" than expected. I love Eli's big queer and crazy family and look forward to so many more stories from this loveable bunch!!
