Summary

A nail-biting, breath-taking story about the disappearances of two young women - a decade apart - told in reverse. It's been 10 years since Nicolette Farrell left her rural hometown after her best friend, Corinne, disappeared without trace. Then a letter from her father arrives - 'I need to talk to you. That girl. I saw that girl.' Has her father's dementia worsened, or has he really seen Corinne? Returning home, Nicolette must finally face what happened on that terrible night all those years ago. Then, another young woman goes missing, almost to the day of the anniversary of when Corinne vanished. And like 10 years ago, the whole town is a suspect. Told backwards - Day 15 to Day 1 - Nicolette works to unravel the truth, revealing shocking secrets about her friends, her family and what really happened to Corinne.

Good twist though a little clunky

While the premise of this book was very promising and the structure is well laid out, the twist could have probably been better executed. The characters are flawed which make them entirely realistic but the story itself had far too many holes in it unfortunately. A bit disappointed but a good listen nonetheless.

backwards and forwards

Struggled with it at the beginning but as it got further in it made more sense. The end was disappointing but it was unpredictable which I liked.

Slow on plotline

Although this was a well written and well narrated story - I felt that the plot/ story did not unravel until the last 45mins. I had guessed the outcome earlier on in the story but it was far too long drawn out with her own personal emotions and scary wood stuff ... which actually wasn't that scary.
I did stick to the end with it but this was nothing as good as " The girl on the train" which had me gripped throughout the story on Audible - I bought this on the basis that this story was as good - it wasn't in my opinion.
