Summary

What happens in the wake of Failure Mode?

The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem.

Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

Continuing Awesomeness

Excellent addition to the series, wish I had rationed it out more as there’s a year to wait for the next one.

Different but also the same.

Great as usual. Time has moved on considerably since the last book and Joe’s life has entered a new phase. I don’t know why I hadn’t expected that, but I guess it provides lots of scope for future stories. I found this book a bit more serious with less shady Skippy shenanigans that I was hoping for (I still miss him messing with Hans Chotek), but it was still extremely enjoyable and I’m craving the next book already.

the complete lack of foresight by the command by separating General Joe from Skippy

Great to see Joe and Skippy in action again. Oh boy what an ending, I can't wait to hear about what happens next!

Another outstanding Skippy and Joe story

We've loved every one of these books. Apart from when we lost Smyth. We still haven't got over that

What’s with the stereotypical sexism in chapter 24?

Wow, I was really enjoying the story until the author started with the whole stereotypical pregnancy sexism using phrases such as “rolled out of bed” and “waddled from the room”. Wtf Craig?
