Summary

A Window Breaks is the nerve-shredding thriller from C. M. Ewan, the author of the acclaimed The Interview and the half-a-million copy selling Safe House, perfect for fans of T. M. Logan and Mark Edwards.

They were supposed to be getting away from their troubles...

It's 2 a.m. in a remote Scottish lodge.

You are asleep when a noise wakes you.

You stir, unsure why, and turn to your partner.

Then you hear it.

Glass. Crunching underfoot.

Your worst fears are about to be realized.

Someone is downstairs, intent on causing your family harm.

You will do whatever it takes to protect them.

But with only each other to rely on, can you escape?

A great read for a dark night.

Kept me up all night in sheer terror.
Loved the narrators voice too. At a loss now it’s over.

Amazing book

This is another of those thrillers which had me hooked from the very first sentence. I couldn’t stop listening once I’d started. I read it in one day. You know when you read a book and you know rationally that you can stop and it’ll be there the next day, but you still can’t? When you can’t sleep until you know what happens? That’s what this one did for me. Really well narrated as well. The performance added to the story as much as the plot did. If Psychological thrillers are your thing, this book is definitely for you! My emotions towards different characters changed all the time. I went from hating one, to feeling sorry for them, to disliking another. For me, that’s the mark of a good thriller. I won’t lie, the very end bought a tear to my eye. I can’t recommend this highly enough for its suspense, terror, emotions. I absolutely adored Buster, and was routing for him through the whole book. A must read for my fellow thriller fans. Claustrophobic, terrifying, sad, and at times if you’re like me, you’ll want to hit something!

WOW!! FANTASTIC. GRIPPING. LOVED IT

NOW....this is what I'm talking about!!! this was right up my Street.

Loved it! brilliant story, relatable characters, great twists! played out like a movie in my head while I was listening! I found myself taking my phone everywhere so I didnt have to stop listening as I was on the edge of my seat!
My emotions were all over the place when it came to Buster the dog, made me cry, laugh, cheer, shout and pray that it would all be ok for him in the end, and for the family! GRIPPING...LOVED IT.....YOU WONT BE DISAPOINTED.

Well done and thank you to the author, it's good to have a decent book to listen to!

Wearyingly simile-overloaded, though strong performances.

Performances were good and matched the text. No obvious mispronunciations and various voices interesting and appropriate.
The story was exhausting to listen to though - and not in a way that helped it along. So many repeated ‘heart-bursting’, ‘heart-exploding’, ‘blood pumping’ etc references that as a listener, I just wanted to fast forward to get it done - and stopped caring about the characters. Maybe get help and advice from an editor another time?

A good book!

Mum and daughter gets attacked so the family go for a break in a friends remote house. They're targeted again is this just a coincidence or does mum know more (like how to get into the cellar).

thank goodness I survived to the end!

on a positive note the story itself and the twist was great however it came too late. By the time I wanted to know what happened I was ready to kill Tom myself because of his whining and self obsession. Talk about me, me, me .... that's boring Tom personified. Added to that the narrator, while perfectly suited to Tom unfortunately, was so monotone and deadly dull that I wanted to pull my own teeth out. decent story, terrible performance.

I really don’t understand the 5* reviews

This story was so drawn out and tedious that I found myself shouting at my phone.
The main character was so self obsessed that no matter what the problem or situation was...... A gun to someone else's head, a dramatic chase, or any similar situation was always described in long drawn out descriptions of 'How it affected ME'.

The whole book was totally beyond the bounds of belief, it was just plain silly! And the main character was unbelievably irritating!
