About this listen
A weekend getaway leads an amateur sleuth and her detective husband down a treacherous trail. With Maddie away on a high school trip, Sheridan and Brett are looking forward to some alone time – and a long-needed break from work and crime. To that end, they rent a cabin in the woods, planning to enjoy nature and hike the trails in the adjacent state park. But their plans are soon derailed by the appearance of a frantic dog, its owner nowhere in sight. The insistent dog leads them to an injured couple and a lifeless body. Sheridan and Brett are quick to offer assistance, both to the injured and the local authorities. The hike was challenging enough, but the trail left by the killer is filled with twists and turns, bringing with it new threats and danger.
This is the tenth in the Sheridan Hendley Mysteries. It can easily be enjoyed as a stand alone mystery.

Delightful characters.
A wonderful book! The story is well written, the mystery is well thought-out and suspenseful with a lot of twists, and the characters are delightful. I loved meeting Stacie again! Alyssa Baumann narrates the book very well.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

A real pleasure
Love this series and the crossover with her other series was a really pleasant surprise. Sheridan and her husband are on a wilderness break when they discover a body. Great story, great characters and a great setting. Jasper steals the show in every book he is in. Alyssa Baumann's narration is excellent. I received a complimentary copy of the audio and am leaving a honest voluntary review.

Excellent mystery
When Sheridan and Brett take a long overdue break, they should know that a body will turn up. This is a well thought out mystery with lot of twists and turns. This is my first book by this author . I now plant to go to the fist book in this series and start reading. The narrator does a first class job.

Excellent Mystery
Another 5 star listen from Crista Narde. This tiem our dynamic duo aka Sheridan and Brett are trying for a break in the mountains but somehow they can't avoid falling over dead bodies! Well written and rivetting story from start to finish. Narration as always is great. Highly recommended.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the author and leave this honest unbiased review.

Another great book
I loved this book and think it is my favourite in the series so far. This is for for a number of reasons, firstly it's a cross over with the authors other series, which I also listen too. It was fun having both couples interacting and working together to solve this case. If this is your first time with either series it's a great introduction to two great amateur sleuths and there policeman partners. Both couples compliment each other and are likeable. They have similar likes, animals and the inability to stay out of trouble is just the icing. I hope they work together again. it was also fun that neither were on home turf, that did mean a lot of the regular characters weren't involved but despite that one of two still managed to get involved. The second reason I liked the book was because of the mystery. It took a number of twists and turns and was cleverly crafted to keep you hooked. It's not the type of mystery where you have lots of suspects to choose from but instead you are caught up on what is going on and how it's done. It can be a difficult or distressing subject matter but the author/characters gives it the dignity and respect it deserves. I can't wait for the next book.
With Brett's daughter away on a school trip he and his wife Sheridan take the opportunity to get away for themselves. Even being out in the middle of nowhere they manage to stumble over a dead body and a badly hurt couple. Not happy with just caring for there dog Brett puts on his detective hat and takes over the case, as the local police aren't use to handling murder investigations. It quickly becomes apparent that there is a lot more going on than just a murder. When the injured couple leaves the hospital they join forces with Brett and Sheridan to track down the culprit.
I liked the narrator even with all the characters she managed to give them different voices, making it each to follow and A pleasure to listen too.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
