About this listen
The multi-million copy best-selling thriller that introduced Jake Brigance to Clanton and inspired a sequel, Sycamore Row.
When Carl Lee Hailey guns down the hoodlums who have raped his 10-year-old daughter, the people of Clanton see it as a crime of blood and call for his acquittal. But when extremists outside Clanton hear that a black man has killed two white men, they invade the town, determined to destroy anything and anyone that opposes their sense of justice. Jake Brigance has been hired to defend Hailey. It's the kind of case that can make or break a young lawyer. But in the maelstrom of Clanton, it is also the kind of case that could get a young lawyer killed.

Great listen.
Great book, lots of characters that get a bit confusing at time, but doesn't take away from the storyline. Great narration and the interpretation of Ickabod is laugh out Lound funny at times. loved it and would recommended.

Guilty OR Not Guilty!
Carl Lee Hailey is the black father who deals with the white boys who raped his 10 year old daughter!
In spite of his lack of money & his colour, Jake Brigance is hired to defend him.
With the interference of the KKK, you wonder who will survive the trial & though I knew the story, what the verdict will be?
I strongly recommend this book!

Enjoyed this book
I’d seen the film and loved it so the book had a lot to live up to and it did. My journey with this author has been a bit hit or miss and this is a hit. It’s obvious that he really knows his stuff and the court scenes were excellent.

Incredible Story
This story is really emotional - I’ve read it several times and hearing it read aloud makes it hit even harder somehow. I must say some good words about Michael Beck for his brilliant performance here - excellent character definition and storytelling.
