Not bad at all.

The beginning of the audiobook sets the stage for Sora's struggles, which can feel a bit slow at times. But trust me, it's worth sticking with. The story picks up speed as the supernatural elements take hold, and the magic system is both unique and captivating. Highly recommended.

Just amazing!

If you enjoy reverse harem elements in your stories, you'll love the dynamic between Sora and the male characters. The audiobook doesn't dwell on romance, but there's a definite undercurrent of potential relationships that adds another layer of intrigue.

Impressive!

I found this book very interesting. If you're looking for a coming-of-age story with a magical twist, "A Tail's Misfortune" delivers. It tackles the harsh realities of bullying but weaves in a fantastical world where Sora discovers a hidden power. Be prepared to cheer her on as she transforms from victim to butt-kicking fox girl!

Dual Narration Makes it amazing!

This audiobook really shines with the dual narration of Mari Bee and Jon Brattin. Bee brings Sora's teenage angst to life, while Brattin adds a layer of mystery with his narration of the fantastical elements. It kept me engaged throughout the 21-hour story. Well-done.

Sora's Journey

I found this story both interesting and almost compulsive but at just over 21 hours long it took me some time to finish as life kept getting in the way! The story quickly pulled me in and I became immersed in Sora's story and the trials and tribulations she faced. The story is entertaining with many twists and turns and has many interesting and intriguing characters.

The story is about Sora Moore a teenager being bullied in high school, suffering in many many ways at the hands of the bullies from verbal abuse, being forced to spend her money on them, her father's very rich, to having her clothes taken away leaving her with just a towel and even cutting off her hair!

Her mother is dead and her father is absent for long periods due to his work leaving her care to the household staff. Her father has employed therapists who have prescribed one medication after another none of which help. That is until she sees a new therapist who starts to wean her off the medication and helps her to stand up for herself. Not long after this, she is surprised to discover that she can access magic and her transformation starts, fortunately, she can use glamour to hide the fact that she has turned into a Kitsune, a new mythical creature for me at least.

Then the world of monsters is revealed to her......

I'm not going to say any more because of spoilers, but I will say that once I started listening I didn't want to stop, the narration is very well done. Mari Bee and Jon Brattin are narrators who I haven't had the pleasure of listening to before but they certainly did an excellent job with this book. Their ability to bring each of the varied characters to life certainly added to my enjoyment of the story.

I don't know if the author plans to revisit this world but if he does I know I will want to listen to that too.
