About this listen

Audie Award, History/Biography, 2016

This acclaimed portrait of heroism and ingenuity captures a watershed moment in human history. The astronauts themselves have called it the definitive account of their missions. On the night of July 20, 1969, our world changed forever when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon. Based on in-depth interviews with 23 of the 24 moon voyagers, as well as those who struggled to get the program moving, A Man on the Moon conveys every aspect of the Apollo missions with breathtaking immediacy and stunning detail.

Excellent book. Well read

What more can you say. This surely has to be the benchmark for any books on the apollo programme. Very informative and well written. Each mission picks up at various points whikst still providing the relevant information so that each chapter is not just a repetition of the last with launch journey landing etc. Have read and listenes to this book several time. Highly recommended

Moonshot

If you only ever listen to one non-fiction book, make it this one. Not only insightful, but - and this is such a rare quality for a history book - inspirational too. Even knowing the story in advance, this book has left me wanting to relive the magic of Apollo all over again.

Fantastically narrated by Bronson Pinchot, who really conveys the sense of awe, wonder and achievement that came with landing in the moon.

The Reference Point

This is rightly regarded as the reference point for all those wishing to immerse themselves in the stories behind the Apollo program - The HBO Series From The Earth To The Moon and key parts of the Apollo 13 film use this book as there reference for many of the characterisations and backgrounds - Highly Recommended

Truly brilliant

Speaking as someone who has listened to pretty much any space exploration/Apollo missions book you can find, this one slots in just perfectly. It is so refreshing to hear about the Apollo missions outside of 8, 11, and 13, which are so widely skipped over, and the people who made them reality. What these men and women achieved in such a short time period is truly remarkable, and, in my opinion, deserves our time and attention to learn about them.

Prior to picking this audiobook up, I saw many negative reviewing regarding the tone and speed of the narration. I found this to be the complete opposite. Bronson Pinchot’s performance was, to me, the perfect match for the scale and grandiose of which this book covers.

I simply cannot recommend this highly enough. Brilliant from start to finish.

A informative insight

This book was the best I have listened to in regards to the Apollo program. So many unique insights into the inner workings of the Apollo Astronauts who were just the face of the entire mission.
