Born in Germantown, Philadelphia and raised in South Jersey, Yvonne lived in Maryland for 20 years before moving to the UK. Yvonne is an American writer living in the UK. A writer of fiction and Creative Nonfiction, her writing has been published in literary journals and anthologies. Her debut novel, Remembered, was longlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction (2019), the Not the Booker (2019), and shortlisted for the Jhalak Prize (2020). She often writes about motherhood, secrets, ghosts, identity, and relationships. She is interested in writing about characters underrepresented in history, on the page, and on the screen. She writes fantasy and nonfiction for children, and historical fiction, short stories, and creative nonfiction for adults. Winner of a Northern Writers Award in fiction (2017), Yvonne was shortlisted for the Words and Women Competition (2017), the Sunderland University Waterstones SunStory Award in 2018, and awarded a Society of Author's Foundation Grant for Remembered in 2018. She was commended for children's writing in the Faber Andlyn BAME (FAB) Prize (2017) and has three titles in Penguin Random House's Ladybird Tales of Superheroes (September 2019) and three titles in Penguin Random House's forthcoming title, Ladybird Tales of Crowns and Thrones. Yvonne hosts literary events, podcasts, talks, and workshops. Yvonne has a PhD in Creative Writing from Lancaster University. She is an Associate Teaching Professor and the Academic Director of Creative Writing at Cambridge University Institute of Continuing Education.
