Hello Readers, You may know me as a screenwriter, a former (recovering) journalist, and the author of the best-selling classic "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of 'Psycho"; Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and Scarlett Johansson starred in the 2012 feature film based on that book. I'm excited to share the news that on 9/16/25, Running Press publishes my newest non-fiction book -- my first on Hitchcock since 1990 -- "Criss-Cross- The Making of Hitchcock's Dazzling, Subversive Masterpiece STRANGERS ON A TRAIN." Last November, 2024 marked the publication of my "A City Full of Hawks: ON THE WATERFRONT Seventy Years Later - Still the Great American Contender" from Applause Books. "Dolls! Dolls! Dolls!: Deep Inside VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, the Most Beloved Bad Book and Movie of All Time," published by Penguin in June of 2020, is under option by a major studio and producer-director for a filmed production. My earlier non-fiction books include "Reel Art - Great Posters From the Golden Age of the Silver Screen" (largely featuring the poster collection of Richard C. Allen), "Bad Movies We Love" (with Edward Margulies) and several books on the making of Disney animated classics including HERCULES and WISH. In the 1990s and 2000s, My feature articles and interviews appeared in the pages and on the covers of such magazines as Playboy, Movieline, Hollywood Life, Statement, GQ, More and Cosmopolitan. My celebrity interviews drew provocative and insightful revelations from Joaquin Phoenix, David Fincher, Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Beyonce, Scarlett Johansson, James Cameron, Drew Barrymore, Heath Ledger, Sharon Stone, and James Cameron among others. I was born in Fall River Massachusetts, grew up in Somerset, Massachusetts and was a longtime resident of Boston, Massachusetts. I now make Southern California my home. Right now, I am in the early exploratory stages of writing a major biography of one of the biggest and most controversial film directors of the 1970s. I am so grateful to the many of you who regularly reach out to tell me that you like my work. And, OK, I promise to update this bio more often. Stephen Rebello
