Sean Dempsey is a 2007 graduate of the University of Vermont where he received his degree in Business Administration; he later went on to receive his MBA at the University of New Hampshire. Sean began writing educational and freedom-based children's books in 2020, inspired by his four year old daughter and her desire to comprehend what was happening in the new world unfolding around her. Sean's primary inspiration for the short picture book "The Tale of Two Brothers" (subtitled "Dare to Live") was the Covid-19 crisis that overtook the world. However, what terrified Sean the most, and led to his more prescient writings, was the visceral and displaced fear that overtook the global populace. Rather than attempting to study and logically perceive the true risks germane to the virus itself and its holistic medical impact, people at large instead embraced draconian measures such as national and state-wide government lockdowns. As the data later evidenced, this fear (and the heavy-hand of government) proved to be far more devastating to the fabric of society than the virus itself. A classic and ironic case of "the cure being worse than the disease." The concept, therefore, of having fear dominate one's life (and an illogical over-heightened sense of real risk) was a common thread in Sean's body of work. For, from a philosophical as well as "real world" perspective, what does it mean to live and be human? It is simply the act of staying alive and drawing breath; or, rather, is it something much deeper and transcendent? For example, what is life without music, art, or beauty? What is life without sharing laughter and tears with friends, family, and loved ones? What is life without freedom? Is life without some, or any, of these items "worth living"? These are questions not easily answered, but rather pondered by theologians, philosophers, and poets alike.
