Lisa Jackson's twin passions of travel and chat-running have seen this globetrotter visit almost 100 countries and complete over 100 marathons (and proudly come last in 25!). A clinical hypnotherapist and Runner's World columnist, Lisa's the co-author (with her husband Graham) of Travel Seekness (#1 in Amazon's Adventurer & Explorer Biographies category) and Travel Agents (#1 in Amazon's Travel Writing category) and the author of Your Pace or Mine? (#1 in Amazon's Running & Jogging category and winner of 3 Running Awards), Running Made Easy (which sold 110,000+ copies and remained Britain's best-selling beginner's running book for over a decade) and Adore Yourself Slim (Simon & Schuster). South African-born Lisa lives in south London with her husband and co-author Graham Williams, a tame squirrel called Pecan and two over-fed wood pigeons called Fletcher and Sedaris. Born in Ghana, Graham is a research analyst for the British government. Terrified of turbulence, he nonetheless braves the scary skies in devoted service to Her Majesty. Graham’s job has taken him to one or two hairy places such as Afghanistan and Pakistan’s Khyber Pass. In 2020, Lisa became one of 400 women who were nominated for the 2020 Women of the Year Awards for 'making a difference every day', in so doing joining the ranks of women such as Joan Armatrading, Sally Gunnell, Jasmin Paris and Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock. In 2017 Lisa was one of 40 people featured in The Sunday Times's Alternative Rich List aka The Enriched List, as someone whose life has been 'rich in experience, rich in spirit, rich in life', an honour she shared with the likes of David Attenborough and the artist Banksy. Lisa's writing has been featured in numerous British publications ranging from The Independent and The Guardian newspapers to Cosmopolitan, Psychologies and Women's Running. On the road Lisa will always favour a backpacker hostel over a swanky hotel because, she reasons, if you’re going to spend money it’s always better to do so with your eyes open. Lisa's 10 favourite cities are Hanoi (Vietnam), Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Pyongyang (North Korea), Isfahan (Iran), Medellín (Colombia), Jerusalem (Israel), Paris (France), Moscow (Russia), Valencia (Spain) and Belfast (Northern Ireland). To help fund his travels, Graham cuts his own hair – less expertly than Lisa would like – and hasn’t been sighted in a sandwich shop for many years, preferring to lunch on tinned sardines instead. Despite bouts of diarrhoea so bad he needed penicillin to cure them, Graham still maintains that if you can’t peel it or boil it or wash it you should eat it anyway, for it may well be very tasty. Graham's 10 favourite cities are Damascus (Syria), Colonia (Uruguay), Rangoon (Burma), Lisbon (Portugal), Valletta (Malta), Petra (Jordan), Istanbul (Turkey), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Luderitz (Namibia) and Kathmandu (Nepal). Lisa and Graham love connecting with runners and travellers from around the world (it's the main reason they became writers), so don't be shy and get in touch as they’d love to hear from you.
