Hello! I never set out to become a writer, I just found that I liked doing it and had stories to tell. Now I confess I am addicted. It's a kind of curse, if I don't write, I don't feel good. So I try and write for at least an hour each day. All of my books were written after extensive travels. Radio Congo was a journey I made in 2007/8 to find out how people were living amid the war and City of Thorns was the fruit of several years hanging out in Dadaab refugee camp: an amazing, disturbing, tragic place full of wonderful people and heart-breaking stories. The Treeline is the result of the environmental impact I witnessed firsthand during my travels in the northernmost regions of earth. My day job is CEO of Black Mountains College where I'm working on a project to help educate the next generation of leaders about climate change. I live with my family in Wales.
