About this listen
When all that you want, is all that's forbidden...
I've known him my entire life. Before marriage. Before fatherhood. Before betrayal. Now, he's one of rock's bad boys trying to be good. Trying to be the best father he can for his daughter. He's my brother's best friend. He's my boss. He has a wife. Max isn't mine to have, but I want him all the same. And I haven't survived all that I have to not go after what I want.
Her story is a tragedy, mine's a publicity disaster.
Just when I needed her most, she walked back into my life, and the timing couldn't be worse. With a newborn baby, a divorce, an album to record, and a world tour to plan, I don't need the distraction. She's off limits. She's my best friend's little sister. She's my nanny. Billie's a golden drop of sexy sun on a grey autumn day, tempting me into the light and a life full of possibilities. A life not meant for us.
Contains mature themes.

Great Story
I really enjoyed the story and the narration was good. Unfortunately the female narrators ability to take on other accents or make gender voices was lacking.

Good, if predictable story, but...
I listened to this because of Shaun Grindell's voice! I've listened to several books he's performed and while I'm aware it's not to every listener's tastes, I love the convinction behind his delivery. He makes the unbelievable, believable.
This story had potential (despite some obvious clichés) but enough interest to keep me listening. It had some laugh at loud moments that I won't forget in a hurry.
However, given that 'Billie' is meant to have a husky sexy voice in the story, the sudden appearance of the 'virginal' angelic voice of Rachel Beresford felt out of place and continued to jarr for me throughout. A great voice for historical or children's fiction, yes, or, perhaps the likes of Austen and L M Alcott, but not this. The two voices here just don't go together.
'Max' (Grindell) when describing the sex scenes, possesses passion, tension, urgency and power like, hey, this is really happening, but Billie (Beresford) sounds far too sweet when she dramatically delivers the sexual scenes from her perspective, and the narrative just goes off the boil. I know her character is 22, but she sounds so much younger, though nonetheless wise. It would have worked better, in my view, with Grindell narrating the entire novel himself.
And, I'm sorry to say, I have never heard such appalling accents... whoever recorded this, I'm surprised you let it happen... they really let the whole thing down. The worst was 'Billie's' attempt at the Scottish accent! I found myself cringing uncontrollably... and the American accent was more Australian...
So a marriage made in heaven? Maybe. In the greater scheme of things at the heart of Lesley Jones' novel. But would I put these two voices together? Never.

Over 2 hours in, invested in characters and had to quit…
I settled into this audio nicely and was enjoying the character build and becoming invested. Then Rachel as the voice of Billie began and it just jarred. Not only in contrast to the male audio but even standalone it sounds robotic. Like an AI generated take of a plum English accent. Hardly any variable in intonation or emotion. So bad, I had to stop listening.

🎧 Max and Billie 🎧
This book got off to a great start with both MCs going through life-changing experiences.
They knew each other when she was a kid, but hadn't seen in other in about a decade, and weren't back in the same room until about 30% into the story. All of which gave me the impression of an upcoming slow burn.
Ha! Not at all. It was insta lust to insta shag to "We didn't use protection, so maybe you're pregnant, but that's totally OK because I want your babies!" within a week of becoming reacquainted.
Talk about whiplash!
The narration was not good. The male narrator had all the Londoners sounding like cockneys, but the female narrator made them sound like the plummy country set. Neither managed a convincing American accent, but hers went via Australia for some bizarre reason.
I stuck it out for 9h 45m at x1.45 but lost my patience when the horrendous Scottish accent hit my ears and ditched the final 3 hours.

Good story
It's a good story and I certainly enjoyed it. That said, the female narrator was terrible. It was toneless, emotionless and so softly spoken that you expected her to read a children's fairy tale at any moment. The male voice was slightly better but not the best work from this narrator.

Book to get lost in
Narrators are great at selling the book and easy to listen to thou some accents will have you laughing .
Easy going story telling some flaws and having to think hmmm what did I miss here
But so wouldn't put this under BDSM as none of the life style is part of this book

Love all the things Max & Billie ❤️
Ah what a story! From the very beginning this book had the hook to keep those pages turning.
Max’s story packs a punch from the get go, one minute everything on the surface looks like it’s picture perfect but the drama is just about to unload and change the way of Max’s life…forever!
Billie I thought was such a strong character, she’s been through so much at such a young age already and her introduction into this story is again life changing, but she is such a strong woman and I love when she knows what she wants, she goes straight for it 👏🏻👏🏻
We know already this is an age gap single dad but, If you’re looking for drama some angst some well earned karma & some hotness, this book had it all :) well worth the one click!
I cannot wait to see more from the side characters they were really fantastic :)
The narration for my on this wasn’t great I didn’t feel a connection with the narrator to the story, the tones and accents weren’t great for me. I was still able to listen because the story had a good hook they I didn’t want to turn it off.

more than pleased
I LOVED Billy's character, the way she grew as a character and the way Max learned to love with her. The justice gotten by Billy was truly the BEST part of the book. thanks to the author for sharing the talent with which she was gifted with.
