Elise Montgomery has sleeping beauty syndrome or as her doctors politely informed her three years ago Kleine Levin Syndrome which is another medical way of saying that her life is cursed—Grimm's fairy tale cursed. She now literally has the ability to sleep her life away with eight hour days and sixteen hour nights. Elise is desperately trying to fix her life—put things back in order when E. R. trauma surgeon, Lee Anderson, steps into her world of chaotic dreams and brief sunlight.

Erin Simpkins is a cardiothoracic surgeon at the top of her game. Iliana Martinez is a beautiful Latina with surgical skills and a brilliant mind. Cobra Dilan is the tiniest surgeon in the operating room, a country doctor with a big heart and a patriotic allegiance to the ole south. These three young surgeons are the next generation of doctors at Penn's Landing Memorial Hospital. Their lives are extreme and full of drama. They work at an urban trauma center in Philadelphia where their personal lives cause problems in and out of the OR.
