Aggressively woke
A showcase for the many things Audible has to offer, this to me feels like an uphill listen for a number of reasons.
But first, what's good about it? Well, the format runs smoothly and allows for a range of regular features, such as featured listen, listener's corner, editor's picks and more. There's a good selection of clips. It's well produced as you would expect from Audible, with great sound quality. But...
I consider myself to be a white left winger passionately concerned about social justice issues. But it still irritates me that the editorial direction here, every week, leans heavily on race, gender and sexuality issues. This would be ok if this was a podcast on those issues. But its not. It's purportedly a review/showcase podcast. If you are a white Christian, you will be openly sneered at and told certain listens are not for you. It gives left wingers a bad name, pandering to right wing stereotypes of the left as a cancel culture, arrogant elite.
And it's often non-sensical. 'Genre corner' was changed to 'listeners corner' because genre was too hard to say, apparently. What?
To sum up, this is occasionally interesting, but overall grating, and unbalanced.
