    Hetty Green (1834-1916), known as the "Witch of Wall Street," was one of the wealthiest financiers of the 19th century. Famous for her extreme frugality, she built an enormous fortune by making investments in real estate, railroads, and bonds, often capitalizing on others’ financial missteps. She defied social expectations for women of her time, leaving a legacy as a pioneer in American finance.

Why were so many incredible stories missing from the typical curriculum? Enter, Womanica. On this Wonder Media Network podcast we explore the lives of inspiring women in history you may not know about, but definitely should.

    Every weekday, listeners explore the trials, tragedies, and triumphs of groundbreaking women throughout history who have dramatically shaped the world around us. In each 5 minute episode, we’ll dive into the story behind one woman listeners may or may not know–but definitely should. These diverse women from across space and time are grouped into easily accessible and engaging monthly themes like Educators, Villains, Indigenous Storytellers, Activists, and many more. Womanica is hosted by WMN co-founder and award-winning journalist Jenny Kaplan. The bite-sized episodes pack painstakingly researched content into fun, entertaining, and addictive daily adventures.

    Eleanor (Nell) Gwyn (c. 1650-1687) was an English actress and mistress of Charles II. Touted as a celebrity figure of the Restoration Period, she was praised for her beauty, recklessness, wit, and generosity. Nell is considered a folk heroine whose story mirrors the rags-to-riches story of Cinderella.
