    ABOUT THE EPISODE:

In Season 2, we discussed school choice, however focusing on all things private school from a prospective parents POV. Today, we will continue this conversation, however, from the side of administration within the private school. Given the outcomes of protests, of education & mask mandates during the pandemic, especially in large metropolitan school districts, is private school still worth it? We are diving into private schools enriching culture and community relationships with our guests, Darnetta Forteau (Director of Admissions) and Kellee Murrell (Principal), from St. Philip's School and Community Center in Dallas, TX.

Guest Momologist, Meet Darnetta Forteau, Director of Admissions . After 18 years in retail leadership and training, Darnetta transitioned into non-profit work and has spent the last 5 years as an Admissions Director. New to St. Philips School and Community Center, she works with an array of different families and genuinely enjoys spending her days helping parents make important educational decisions for their children. Her career shift was born out of her desire to be living a more purposeful life and she sees how God opened many doors to allow for that to happen. Darnetta Forteau lives in Dallas, TX with her husband of 17 years, Damion, and their two little girls, Quinn (10) and Margot (9). They love to travel and are big fans of Korean culture.

Guest Momologist,  Kellee Murrell received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History Education from Clark Atlanta University and a Master’s in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. She began her career in Dallas at Tyler Street Christian Academy as a history teacher then continued her passion to educate children at Richardson West Junior High in Richardson ISD. It was there that Mrs. Murrell’s role in education was expanded, serving as the 7th grade girls basketball coach, 21st Century after-school program coordinator, and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) campus coordinator and teacher.  Mrs. Murrell, a native New Yorker, is married to Mark Murrell, Deputy Chief of Community Prosecution and Community Courts for the City of Dallas, and has two wonderful children, Eden and Mark Jr., both students of St. Philip’s School and Community Center.
