I was alone in my apartment, just trying to lighten the mood in the empty space by jokingly calling out my name. It was meant to be a silly moment, a way to pass the time as I waited for my dinner to finish cooking in the oven. But when I heard a voice respond from the other room, my blood ran cold.

I froze, my heart thudding in my chest as I tried to process what had just happened. I knew I was alone, there was no one else in the apartment with me. So who or what had just mimicked my voice?

With trembling hands, I slowly made my way to the other room, my breath catching in my throat as I saw no one there. The silence was deafening, the only sound being the ticking of the clock on the wall. I searched every corner, every closet, every nook and cranny but found no one.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that something was in my apartment with me, something that could mimic my voice with chilling accuracy. Panic set in as I frantically searched for any sign of an intruder, but there was nothing.

I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, of being followed by an unseen presence. My mind raced with fear, unable to comprehend what was happening. And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the voice spoke again.

"Who are you?" it whispered, sending a wave of terror crashing over me. I knew then that whatever was in my apartment was not human, and I was not safe.

I grabbed my keys and fled, leaving everything behind as I ran out into the night, my heart pounding with fear. I never returned to that apartment, haunted by the memory of my own voice calling back to me from the darkness.
