  • It's ok to clap!
    Sep 27 2024

I encourage you to set goals and chase them.

Shut out the noise and go after your dreams.

I have zero respect for the person who directs criticism at another who is putting in the work.

No judgement here, I have been that guy, just some encouragement.

    It’s easy to criticize.

It’s born from a place of jealousy or arrogance.

Jealousy because they are working harder or achieving greater success.

Arrogance because maybe they are working harder to achieve the same goal.

Or they are just at a different milestone in the journey than someone more experienced.

    Guess what else is easy.

Clapping for others regardless of where they are in the journey.

If they are putting in the work.

    What does it hurt?

It’s rewarding to clap for others who are putting in the work.

It can be humbling to encourage another.

Especially if you have already achieved the milestone.

Think of it as giving back.

Who will you clap for today?

If you are looking to take YOUR performance to new levels and you don’t know what to do next.

I am not hard to find.

  • Tackle That Fear of Failure
    Sep 26 2024

Fear & Anxiety can disguise itself in many forms. Fear & Anxiety over something new is not uncommon. Fear of trying something new and failing can just be a form of anxiety... it's hard to distinguish the difference. It's even harder to push through either of them and try something new that may deliver the greatest results of your life. I let fear (and anxiety) hold me back for far too many years. The fear manifested itself in the unknown of "what if I do this and it causes unwanted or unplanned outcomes" The anxiety manifested itself in the "what if I am not good enough to achieve it" One day, I had to take a leap of faith that I could figure out how to adjust and adapt to whatever outcome resulted from me betting on me.

    What did I learn?

    I am a safe bet.

I focused on how my team could win and never took my eyes off the target, no matter how many obstacles. I found a way forward.

I found a way to win.If you are looking to take YOUR performance to new levels and you don’t know what to do next.

I am not hard to find.

  • You don't have to be loud or silent to be effective
    Sep 25 2024

The strong silent type has many applications where it is appropriate.Business meetings, where problems need to be solved is not one of them.Businesses pay talent to speak up and contribute where appropriate to help the team move toward a goal. This is common sense, right? It’s not as common as you would hope. There are two types of silent that I have experienced.-The silent and not strong, no opinion – nothing to add of value. This is someone who got through the interview process.Taking up a seat on the team but not contributing in a meaningful way.-Then, equally annoying, and toxic to the work environment, the strong silent type. This person has so many opinions AFTER the meeting and shares them with everyone BUT the team that needs to solve the problem. You don’t have to be a loudmouth – overpowering everyone in the room to contribute. There is nothing wrong with allowing others to share their thoughts and opinions – then chime in BEFORE the team leaves the room.Even if you don’t think you know the answer… ask the question, get the conversation moving down the path of learning. If you are the leader in the room, ask questions that require more than a Yes or No.Don’t ask if the group understands, ask them to explain their understanding.Don’t assume silence means anything other than what it is. Silence. If you are looking to take YOUR performance to new levels and you don’t know what to do next. I am not hard to find.
