Thoughts

I found this is a very satisfying adventure story.
Although most of it held me in suspense it was a cozy story to listen to.
I recommend this for teens or possibly older.
I enjoyed its interpretation of a a younger version of James Bond and it some managed to keep slot of the concepts of the older tales without being sexist.

So good

a second story of James Bond as a child I read the first one and it was brilliant and this one was packed with as much thrill and adventure as the James Bond film's one of the best books that I have read.

Excellent narration

A good fun book much in the style of the Fleming books, but PG rated as it were.
The narrator really does an excellent job bringing this book alive with all its different characters.

Very good, but not best of the Higson series.

A well written Young Bond adventure, but not the best of the superb series by Charlie Higson. A slightly convoluted plot and some weak editing/tightening of story let it down. But still a very high standard that captures the Fleming style and sweep very well. I preferred Double or die, and By Royal Command more though. Well narrated by Nathaniel Parker adds to the tone of Fleming's classic character too.

A cracking good read

I loved this story of the young James Bond, his time at Eton, his aloneness and his love of danger and the excitement he derived from daring to ‘live on the edge’ with The Danger Club’. The exploits there equipped him well to deal with the scrapes he would get into - and out of - whilst on a school trip to Sardinia. I listened to the last 5hrs in one go as it was so tense and exciting.

I love spoken word. I can do manual tasks whilst listening.

The narrator was very good and made it easy to follow as he adopted different voices for the disparate characters.

I will look out for more stories about the young James Bond.

Great family listening

The whole family enjoyed listening to this on a long car journey - children of 12 and 10 and 3 adults were all engrossed. Of course its a bit far-fetched (its James Bond after all!) but the reading is spot on. There are quite a few deaths, some a bit gory, so maybe not suitable for much younger children. The bit with the mosquitos was painful to listen to... A great adventure romp with plenty of bad villains to be defeated by our hero.
