The word bitch conjures many images for many people, but it is most often meant to describe an unpleasant woman. Even before its usage to mean a female canine, bitch didn’t refer to gender at all - it originated as a gender-neutral word meaning genitalia. This is a must, simple as that!
This is an outstanding and wonderfully informative book. Wordslut is simply amazing and extremely enjoyable to listen to, Amanda Montell covers a large collection of topics and subject matter.
This is a must read/listen for any feminist! Wordslut is up there with Everyday Sexism by Laura Bates, Men Explain Things To Me And Other Essays by Rebecca Solnit and The Handmaid’s Tale and The Testaments by Margaret Atwood.

awesome, informative , fun(ny) , great !
I loved it, missed my bus stop twice while listening to it ! when I listen to feminist books , I get angry and also motivated to read (and do) more. I stopped listening a few times to Google some terms and names n add things to my to read(Or to listen) list . I really enjoyed it !

Brilliantly popularises language and gender.
Among many many other wonderful take aways she reminded me of Elgin's "Native Tongue". Recommended to all genders.

Brilliant & listening is the way!
Such a great and thoughtful book. I was thinking of buying the physical book for friends but realised that the audio delivery really helped with dealing with the nuances of speech! So I guess I’ll have to give them the audio version instead. Amanda’s delivery was fab 🙌

Much more fascinating than I anticipated
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend listening to it. I was pleasantly surprised by how fascinating 'Wordslut' is. In particular, I found the chapter on Catcalling to be incredibly intriguing, as it analyses the linguistic tools used to undermine and exert power over women. Understanding these concepts can empower us to counter them effectively. Additionally, the book is filled with interesting and geeky information about words and grammar from a feminist perspective. By reading this book, you can arm yourself with a wealth of valuable information.
I also loved the book 'Cultish' by the same author and am looking forward to reading 'Magical Overthinking'.

Brilliant! A must read (listen)!
Well researched and well explained.
A fascinating insight into not just the etymology of words but how and why they're used socially and culturally.
I am so happy that it was read by the author too to really present her thoughts her pacing tone and enthusiasm level kept me interested throughout.
