Summary

A body in a barn. A secret from the past. Wedding plans can be murder.

Reverend Annabelle Dixon is back! A vicar with a taste for sweets and a nose for crime, Annabelle seems doggedly distracted from her impending wedding to Inspector Nicholls, much to the dismay of her wedding organiser, Philippa.

So when a visiting priest stumbles over a corpse in a cow barn, Annabelle is all too eager to investigate. But when an ancient journal links the victim to a travesty from the past, Annabelle wonders if she’s in over her head.

Can Annabelle solve this disturbing crime and banish her wedding day jitters once and for all, before it’s too late?

Witches at the Wedding is the eighth audiobook in a furiously fast-paced, funny new series featuring a young female vicar whose passion and dedication to her parish are matched only by her weakness for cake.

If you like quirky characters, clever puzzles, and a touch of sweet romance, then you’ll love Alison Golden’s deliciously addictive storytelling.

**This series of books are clean cozy mysteries that contain no swearing or graphic descriptions of violence or bedroom activities.**

Hectic but joyful finale to the series

I have been an advance reader for this author for several years and have loved just about everything that she has produced. More recently I have been listening to the audio books of this series, Thoroughly enjoying going over all of Annabelle's adventures and also her budding romance with Inspector Mike.
In this final story in the series Annabelle is driving her friend Phillipa mad by refusing to take her upcoming nuptials seriously, then her friend Father John finds a dead body and Annabelle can't resist leaping into action to solve the mystery of the murder.
There are all sorts of people involved in the adventure, travellers, a witch, and a historian, as well as all the residents of her Cornish village.
Although the mystery is cleverly crafted, the central question is whether everything can be brought together in time for the wedding.
As befits the end of an era, the story has a romantic and satisfying ending, and we see Annabelle and Mike fly off into their future together.
A truly epic, exciting, romantic ending to a glorious series.

Cold feet or a murder to solve

I enjoyed this story, although I am sad that the series has come to an end and am disappointed that there won't be any more mysteries for Annabelle to solve in her new role as wife, fingers crossed the author changes her mind. At least we are left in a happy place and with smiles on our faces, as we think back on everything that went on in the course of the eight books. There wasn't a huge suspect list in this mystery but I actually liked that the wedding was more the focus and the question of would they actually be ready for the big day? It also gave the author a chance to reintroduce characters we had meet previously. Definitely not a conventional wedding but a lot of fun with moments of hilarity added in. The witches and gypsies were an unusual story line but played out well in adding drama to the final book. Off to see what other series I can find under this author.
The big day is fast approaching but Philippa is worried that Annabelle has changed her mind, with so much still to plan and organise it will take all her strength to keep her on track and that is before A body is discovered. The unusual placement of the body has Annabelle turning to the past for clues, especially as the murdered woman was Harper's aunt. The villagers are quickly to blame a traveling group of gypsies who seem reluctant to move on. Even Mike wants them to be guilty so he can shut the case before the big day. Annabelle however can't keep her mind on cakes or dresses when there is a killer in the village, a killer that might just get away with murder.
I have come to really enjoy listening to this narrator's bubbly and clear voice and look forward to re listening to the series again in a few months time.
