Summary

Perfect for fans of Cecilia Ahern, Jodi Picoult and Sheila O'Flannagan.

After 10 years together, Carrie Nolan is devastated when she's dumped by Kevin Mulvey without even a backwards glance! But on reflection, she has sacrificed her own long-term happiness by pandering to his excessive ego in their successful Dublin restaurant (and out of it) - but not anymore! While Kevin is 'living the dream' with his beautiful new Brazilian girlfriend, Carrie seeks solace from a circle of mismatched strangers who need her as much as she needs them. Then suddenly a catastrophic sequence of events leads to the unthinkable.

How far do you need to fall before you learn the true value of family and friends? And is it ever too late to start again.

Amazingly fab

First book I’ve heard by this author. And I loved it! Modern, insightful and engaging. Really get empathy/antipathy for the characters. Funny and poignant. Well worth the listen

Rene

Enjoyed the story line but not the Narrator. Her reading was way too fast.

Poor narration

I carried on listening to this because I felt that the characters were fully rounded and the storyline was strong . This is despite the awful narration, which was rushed, sometimes badly enunciated with no sense of changing place or character at times which made it confusing .

Good book terrible narrator

Good story if a little obvious. The narrator was terrible. She seemed to rush through the book as fast as possible, barely pausing for breath. It was sometimes confusing as she blurred one part of the story to another.

Brilliant story.

Why was the narration so awful?
I had to slow it down. There were mistakes.
If I was the author I’d be gutted at a missed opportunity to promote my book.

lovely story but told at a cracking pace

The premise of the story - long-term partners whose personal relationship had staled, whilst their hard-won business thrived, a scheming siren, and heart warming redemption - and come-uppance - was good, and I enjoyed the warmth and humour. I felt that the characters were believable, and wanted to know 'what happened next' - sequel please?

However - and I usually love listening to Irish storytellers - the listening experience was marred by the breakneck speed of the narrator, who barely drew breath and rattled through sentences, paragraphs and complete changes of subject or pace - even slowing the narration speed down did not particularly help.

So unfortunately it left me feeling a bit breathless - sorry!

I loved this story!

This is so well written. It has richly drawn, engaging characters and a strong, though light, story. I also really liked the narrator’s voice. Unfortunately, here she read too fast, sometimes not pausing for breath even when there is a change of subject! She also frequently emphasised the wrong part of sentences. I notice that up to date, there are no other books narrated by her available on Audible. Hopefully, the problems stem from lack of experience and she will improve. Highly recommended!

Great story, absolutely awful narrator

I have no idea how this narrator passed any kind of screening! Perhaps the editors were having a bad day and didn’t pick up on the chapter after chapter of speed reading. I only listened to the end as it was free. Lovely story otherwise.
