Summary

'I cannot remember the last time I was so moved by a book. We Are Never Meeting in Real Life is as close to perfect as an essay collection can get.' - Roxane Gay, New York Times bestselling author of Difficult Women and Bad Feminist

In this painfully funny collection, Samantha Irby captures powerful emotional truths while chronicling the rubbish bin she calls her life. From an ill-fated pilgrimage to Nashville to scatter her estranged father's ashes to awkward sexual encounters to the world's first completely honest job application, and more, sometimes you just have to laugh, even when your life is permanently pear-shaped.

Absolutely fucking brilliant

literally laughed out loud all the way through, an absolute MUST READ. Samantha is shitty, self deprecating, raw, honest and totally relatable, I spent half the book thinking 'HA, same'!

Comedy gem

I downloaded Samantha Irby’s third book ‘Wow, no thank you’, on a whim and before I had finished, already had both others in my library. She has this great balance of trauma and comedy which I love and I find myself laughing at things which although we have very different lives and upbringings I think “yep I do that”.
This book is her transitioning from awkward late 20s, making bad decisions, and kind of just getting by, to her mid 30s, falling in love for real and actually thinking about long term life choices like moving in with her partner. This is one of these books that by listening to the author tell it, rather than read it, brings a whole new dimension. I love Samantha Irby and I love her humour. And if you can cope with the occasional gross anecdote then you will no doubt love it too.

Great but slow

Loved the book, but had to listen in x1.7 speed!! Thank goodness you can choose to do that, otherwise I think it would have been unbearable to listen to.

waste of a credit. hate the way she talks about a pet

waste of a credit. I hate the way she talks about a pet,
the language is ruff for audible and I just don't get the humour. I read this was supposed to be funny but just not funny to me

Awful

Unpleasant, unsavoury, foul mouthed hate filled character. Maybe you have to be American to enjoy this? Truly dreadful. Couldn’t finish it.
