Summary

The nail-bitingly suspenseful second book in the smash-hit Wayward Pines trilogy, from the bestselling author of Dark Matter, Recursion, and Upgrade.

It’s the perfect town . . . as long as you don’t try to leave.

Nestled amid picture-perfect mountains, the idyllic town of Wayward Pines is a modern-day Eden – at least at first glance.

Except that within its fences, the residents are told where to work, how to live, and who to marry. None of them know how they got here. Some believe they are dead. Others think they’re trapped in an unfathomable experiment. Everyone secretly dreams of leaving, but those who dare face a terrifying surprise.

As sheriff, Ethan Burke is tasked with enforcing the town’s laws, and he’s one of the few entrusted with the truth – even though, for all his knowledge, he’s as much a prisoner of Wayward Pines as anyone else.

But when a murder investigation draws him deeper into the town’s inner workings, Ethan learns that its past is darker than even he suspected – and finds himself faced with an impossible choice.

The second novel in Blake Crouch’s blockbuster series, Wayward delves deeper into the irresistible mysteries and horrors of this perfect little town, even as it asks what it means to live with secrets – and what price we’ll pay for the truth.

So exciting!

While the first half is pretty slow, the second half really picks up and leaves you unable to stop listening! The ending is brilliant and can't wait for the third book now. How's it going to end?!

Improvement

I wasn't looking forward to reading this as I hadn't enjoyed the previous installment but boy was I surprised.
From beginning to end (grr) I lapped this up.
What an about turn this was, for me anyway.

Great, follow on story

I’ve read a few of Blakes work now and then joyed all of them. We would is a great follow-on from the first book, which brings more intrigue and more questions as to how the village started and then begins to answer those questions. I’m already looking forward to book 3.

I didn't realise this was book 2 of a trilogy. Never mind... as soon as I finished it I immediately bought book 3! can't wait to start listening to it!

Gripping from start to finish

I was hooked after the first book and loved the second one even more. The narrator is really good at building the tension and conveying each character but I had to listen on 1.2 speed as I found his reading frustratingly slow especially when there are so many twists and turns I just wanted to know all the answers now! So excited to read the last book and will definitely read more from Crouch in the future.

A great sequel

Not as good as the first but still a brilliant book. It's kept me hooked enough to continue on and finish the 3rd book in the series.

Great 👍

Not as strong as the first, but a great filler to understand gaps in the plot making the story complete.

I absolutely rate the second in the 3 part series.

Absolutely hooked on this series

Ethan has survived book one and starts to adapt to his new role in Wayward Pines. The pace and twists are just as frenetic as in the first book.
