About this listen

"What's gotten into you, dashing about to make a man's poor, tired head spin?... Oh, all right. I'll chase you if you like." He started to get up, changed his mind, and slumped back against the pillow. "Only it's such a bother."

Catherine Pelliston has just escaped a forced marriage to an obnoxious friend of her unreliable father; and now she's truly in the soup; kidnapped and helpless in a London brothel! And though she's been rescued by the very inebriated Max Demowery, Viscount Rand, she may be in even greater danger of falling in love with the shockingly outrageous, scandalously improper Viscount Vagabond!

Fun

Enjoyable and not to be taken too seriously. Americanisms and incorrect words are irritating but the excellent narration took off the edge.

Good story & characters, pretty good narration too

This author always creates great characters. The narrator was better than that for other Loretta Chase books on Audible but the audio is a bit tinny & I still feel a good amount of humour is lost due to tone of voice...I love audio books but these really would be enjoyed more if read yourself.

Ok I suppose

The story was tolerable but somehow spoiled by the narrator. Strangely most voices were ok, particularly the men and to my untrained ear the colloquial accents seemed ok too, but the women, particularly the heroine was dreadful! I have never in my life heard a woman speak with such a contrived shrill voice! At some points, it was better but not consistently so.

Overall, I didn't dislike it enough to return it, but I wouldn't listen to it again - and it's only because I'm a complete-ist when it comes to book series that I'm going to steel myself to listen to the second book in this series, read by the same narrator. Thank goodness there are only 2 books in the series!
