About this listen
In a frayed London neighborhood, the disappearance of a young girl ignites simmering tensions in the community. As the hours pass without answers, fear and suspicion threaten to tear a once-cohesive community apart.
This gripping drama illuminates the powder keg of societal issues plaguing modern Britain - immigration, inequality, institutional distrust. More than a portrait of a family’s anguish, it reveals how crisis can warp collective reason and inflame our worst instincts. Yet also it kindles hope, showing the power of unity and humanity’s resilience when we need it most.
Inspired by timeless themes of truth and justice, this story transports you into the heart of a community’s escalating crisis. With each twist and turn, it highlights both the fragility and tenacity of our social bonds. A chilling yet ultimately uplifting tale for our conflicted times.

Not as expected
I struggled with this. Reminded me of a game of tennis the way they were saying their names back & forward all the time. It was based in London yet all the men were foreign & had female names. The accents could have been better. It could have been a very good story if there were more characters & the speech was better.

Innovative quick story with a moral twist
I read a previous review that this story was confusing. I heard a previous audiobook from the author 'The Ghosts of the Past' and so knew what to expect.
This author uses a screenplay/play methodology, which I find suits the stories he tells. This particular story revolves around the disappearance of Lucy, a girl who has mysteriously gone missing. The presentation is that of a news company breaking the news and reporting it in dramatic fashion. There is a backdrop of immigration hate when the community are quick to throw blame at non-nationals.
This is an extremely brave story and one which can be set anywhere in the current climate. The basic story is gripping when the listener intrigued by hearing the 'News' of Lucy's whereabouts. However the judgement of the community is questioned, when accusations are thrown around because of a person's nationality and culture. For me the author does an excellent job in keeping us interested in the story, while asking us to question our morals.
I would encourage more people to listen to this author and his work. It's quick but very thought provoking. I'm glad I found out about this author and look forward to more.
