Summary

When Dana Field’s father died, leaving her all alone, she talked the new farmer in the area and his mother into letting her work on their farm. He needed the help, she needed to stay busy, and her cake baking didn’t fill enough of her time. However, many of the townspeople didn’t think it was a proper task for an unmarried woman. Then the vandalism started and escalated.

Was it directed against the Polish family she worked for or her, and could it be one of the men who suddenly wanted to court her?

Christian Historical Romance

I loved everything about the audiobook! The instant connection to the new family, the Catholic family finding a stronger faith in the Protestant church, the gifts, even the crime solving. I was especially enjoying the narrator! Of all the audiobooks I've enjoyed by Janice, I believe this was my favorite narrator!

The crimes themselves I did not enjoy, but they gave the two even more reasons to get to know each other better.

But, Domino and Dottie were a wonderful addition to the story! As was the farm connection to Dana. Just a wonderful well written and narrated story in a series that's already got several wonderful books in it!

Dana and Leon!

What fun this listen is! Spunky, independent and sticking to what you believe, Dana finds herself in a predicament. Now that her father has passed away, she needs to fill her time. Making her well liked upside-down cakes does not keep her busy, so she asked the Polish family if she could help work the farm. Hesitant, but with the encouragement of his mother, Leon take her on, and a friendship begins. The family makes her feel at home, and helps not only keeping her busy but from the loneliness of the loss of her dad. But she may find that she needs even more help! Since the death of her father, the suitors have come out and someone is vandalizing her home. Now decisions have to be made and investigations beginning. Who is trying to hurt Dana? Will Leon be able to keep her safe? And who will she choose as her suitor? This is a fun listen, not only because I love upside down cake, but I love that Dana follows her heart and instincts rather than the opinion of others. This is an inspiration and a wonderful story.

LB Neibauer is a new narrator to me, and I loved her interpretation of this book! An easy pace and warmth in her voice make the listen easy on the ears. She easily creates the many characters, including adding the Polish accent and makes each one easy to distinguish and enjoy. She gives this a fabulous performance.
