Surprise ending

Enjoyed the plot twists and character interactions. The story was very well written but I think the narrative was lacking something.

Same old...

....with a fantastical sci-fi flavour. I haven't listened to a Scarpetta novel for years and soon remembered why. The interesting post-mortem-y stuff is always followed by more buffoonery from Marino (?Merino) who is the most implausible oaf. His every scene drags the whole thing down.

Pure riveting suspense

I already reviewed this book halfway through but I’m going to write more. This book put Patricia back up to the number one spot for me, a golden number one. I won’t let on so as not to spoil it but it was bloody brilliant!

Another great Scarpetta novel

Really enoyable. Performance from the narrator was fantastic. Although, Lucy's character reminded me of an entitled teenager, not how I have pictured her from other books. But a great performance job the less, especially Scarpetta and Marino.

Amazing!

This is book 27 in the Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell. Patricia is one of my favourite authors, and I have read all of her books. She is a fantastic and clever writer. I love her characters Kay, Lucy, Benton and Marino, and I always enjoy reading about every case they are investigating. They are like family to me.

In this book, which I loved, chief medical examiner Dr Scarpetta is examining the remains of two campers in Northern Virginia, who have been mauled beyond recognition. Along with Marino, Benton and Lucy, she investigates, to try and find out who committed these brutal murders.

I highly recommend this book, and all the books in this series!

Well worth a listen

A bit slow at the beginning but gripping once it gets going a few red herrings which kept me on my toes

Descriptions

At times gratuitous and unnecessary to explain a medical examiners work Earlier books were so much better in this respect

Not what I expected

I usually really enjoy anything scarpetta however this book seemed very rushed and random. Very disjointed beginning a more recognisable mid story and a disappointing ending rehashing old characters. It was Ok might be more enjoyable in print.

Long and drawn out

Preferred Cornwalls Earlier writing. All the high tech stuff not to my taste. Prefer a more authentic type story

Brilliant

I’ve read every book in the series, and really enjoyed the latest. Her knowledge of the field is spectacular and the book is well researched and written
