About this listen
The follow-up to his best-seller The War of Art, Turning Pro navigates the passage from the amateur life to a professional practice.
"You don't need to take a course or buy a product. All you have to do is change your mind." (Steven Pressfield, author)
Turning pro is free, but it's not easy. When we turn pro, we give up a life with which we may have become extremely comfortable. We give up a self we have come to identify with and to call our own.
Turning pro is free, but it demands sacrifice. The passage from amateur to professional is often achieved via an internal odyssey whose trials are survived only at great cost, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. We pass through a membrane when we turn pro. It's messy, and it's scary. We tread in blood when we turn pro.
What we get when we turn pro. What we get when we turn pro is we find our power. We find our will and our voice, and we find our self-respect. We become who we always were but had until then been afraid to embrace and live out.

Excellent Book
Every time I listen to this book I get more out of it. Really resonates with me...to stop running away from who I know I am inside and how to bring my work into the world.

Legendary
Love every bit of it!! Steven Pressfield knows how put everything in the perfect perspective. Turning pro should be the number one pursuit in life. For someone who wants to retain the wisdom better, going the book through more than once is advised.

Up There
Having read War of Art and Do The Work I decided to buy this and wasn't disappointed. Some elements do overlap with those books, but help to reinforce the ideas, plus there is new material. Good stuff.

A must for any creatives or entrepreneurs
A great follow on from the War of Art, focusing on the mindset and the daily work required to be a true artist, entrepreneur, or creative. For those who dreams require them to "enter battle alone".

Short and sweet
Though this book is short and to the point. I believe the main part is at chapter 30 to 79.
The reading sounded like a robot. Probably is so you'll end up falling asleep at times.

an iconic book to refer to again and again
a very short book that has a message that rings painfully true- daily discipline is what you need to be a creator, and you need to forget about the rewards. The personality reminds me of some creative men I have worked with- addictive, purist, idealistic- that's not a match for me (too much family to juggle to be purist!) but I can't ignore the core message
