Summary

International best-selling author Angela J. Ford launches her brand new Lore of Nomadia series with Treachery of Water: the story of an alluring nymph, a curious librarian, a renowned hunter, and a mad sorceress as they seek to save - or destroy - the empire of Nomadia.

Foul magic stirs in the depths of the sea where sirens are ruled by the whims of powerful water nymphs. But when fever sweeps the watery kingdoms, threatening to destroy the race of sirens forever, a new hero must rise.

Darya, a water nymph, is chosen to find a magical remedy to save her people. But the spell for the cure lies ashore in the Great Library of Nomadia. Forsaking the depths, Darya begins a desperate quest to save her home, her people, and everything she loves. But her quest goes awry when she is captured by slave traders who bind her magic.

Nurimil is a legendary hunter known for his skills in procuring magical creatures and artifacts. Unfortunately, a bounty is on his head, and he’s on the run with a risky plan to secure his own freedom. A plan that becomes twisted once he lays eyes on Darya.

Araceli the Faun works in the capital city of Nomadia as a librarian. When traveling mages leave behind a mysterious tome she becomes obsessed with it. As she unravels the secrets of the book, it shows her how to summon a dark and devious jinn.

As Darya, Nurimil, and Araceli wrestle with their own endeavors, they will soon discover they have the potential to sway the fate of Nomadia. For unrest plagues the empire of Nomadia. A darkness rises, fueled by a cruel sorceress with a hideous desire to throttle magic and rule all races with an iron fist.

Set in an immersive fantasy world, Treachery of Water is the first book in the Lore of Nomadia Trilogy. This gritty, action-packed adventure includes diverse creatures, twisted sorcery, powerful friendships, and passionate romance. The trilogy will delight fans of dark and romantic fantasy.

I loved this!

This is my first time reading an Angela J. Ford book and I loved it.

It starts with Elmira, a magical Elf kidnapped as a child, enslaved & twisted to bend to the will of a wizard for evil gain. Elmira is a tormented soul who's only wish is to seek revenge for the years of pain & suffering she has endured for most of her life. But she is strong and she is patient. Darya a Water Nymph, is desperate to correct a mistake she made in haste and redeem herself in the eyes of her people. She is sent on an important mission she cannot fail, to help her people protect themselves against dark magic which will kill them all. Her treacherous quest leads her into the world of the Land Walkers where she is immediately put in danger. Hired Bounty Hunter Nurimil is unsurprised when his Hunter's Guild backstabs him, a high price is put on his head and he suddenly becomes the hunted. He has a plan to save himself, but his plans quickly become entangled with a beautiful nymph he once helped, and an evil force from his past he has to once again face. Araceli is a sweet, humble Faun enslaved from childhood to work and serve others. She is suddenly given a magical book which opens up her world to many amazing experiences she was deprived of in her past. For the first time ever she begins to feel there is meaning to her life, and with her Jinn mentor at her side she cannot fail. But even he warns her he is not to be trusted. The author writes about great characters who all seem to be key in the foretold prophecy of the girl who cries gold.

This is an intricate fantasy world full of action, suspense, sorcery, romance and of course much treachery. I highly recommend this book, my attention was glued from start to finish, and I look forward to the next book in the series.

I was given this book for free of my own choosing and voluntarily left this review.

Fascinating & Engaging!

Treachery of Water is a fantastic start to the Lore of Nomadic series. It's brilliantly written and highly imaginative, I was thoroughly impressed by the world-building. I'm not really a fantasy reader or listener, every once in a while, I only dab my foot in the genre. With her phenomenal writing and character development, Angela J. Ford has split the door wide open to an incredible world for me. Treachery of Water is an adventurous tale and wholly engaging with amazing and fascinating characters. The storyline has it all, magic, action, vengeance, suspense, intrigue, betrayal, and romance. I can't wait to listen to the second book in the series and to find out what comes next.

Naomi Rose-Mock's narration was on point. She breathed life into Ford's words and definitely made the story more engaging. This audiobook was so worth the listen and I'm highly recommending it.
