Summary

Following the death of her beloved mother Jennifer Worth in 2011, Suzannah Worth discovered amongst her manuscripts a folder simply labelled 'Fifth Book'. Imagine her excitement when she sat down to read and her mother's distinctive voice came flooding back.

This enchanting new collection from Jennifer Worth's Call the Midwife takes you back to the East End of London in the 1950s. Heart-warming and funny, these never-before-seen stories feature all Worth's beloved characters, with a particular focus on Fred, the irresistible Poplar boiler man.

A selection of Suzannah's favourites from the original memoirs, featuring Chummy and Sister Monica Joan, join the new stories to make a very special addition to the Call the Midwife family.

Repeat of former books

Alot of repeats from earlier books, somewhat dissapointed I have to say, though I did enjoy the last 3-4 chapters, there are certainly too many copy and paste chapters.

Dissatisfied

Normally I adore Jennifer Worth's books but so much of this was written in previous books. The few new stories in it were bulked out with past ones. So disappointing.

Sad to say was enjoyable but lacking

Absolutely adored all the books and series when first came out and as much as this book was a return to the same it was sadly lacking as so much was a repeat…despite in the forward it being mentioned that so many others had written in with their stories. These could have so easily been adapted and made a further adventure into those times so much more enjoyable.

A few added bits

This is mainly a repeat of Fred, Chummy and Sister Monica Joan's stories in the previous books. There are a few added parts to Fred's story, and those are ok. But it won't actually add much to the main books.
Hearing it told by Jennifer's daughter is lovely.

Disappointing

I thoroughly enjoyed the previous books and downloaded this one with great anticipation but was very disappointed to discover how much of this book had already been narrated in the previous ones.

Disappointing

Most of the stories contained in the Fifth Book are repeated stories from the first 3 books written by Jennifer Worth. I feel cheated paying for this.
