About this listen
He expected to be the topic of scandalous gossip.
Banished to Boston for causing the death of Lord Banbury, Lucas Dempsey vowed never to set foot on English soil again. But when his brother inherits the viscountcy and pleads for his return, the opportunity to show his contempt and loathing for the society who turned its back on him proves to be far too enticing to resist.
He did not expect an intriguing lady to barge into his home desperate to save his wicked soul.
When the dishonorable Lucas Dempsey steps into the ballroom after a four-year absence, Helena Ecclestone is quick to label the gentleman a murderous rogue. That is until she stumbles upon a secret conversation and feels a moral obligation to see justice done. But while the ladies swoon over his handsome countenance, Helena is determined to look beyond such superficial features, intrigued to discover the true character of the gentleman he hides beneath his arrogant facade.

Regency Murder Mayhem with Style - Loved it!
To be honest, I wasn't quite sure how I would feel about the book when it first started. It seemed like it might be a typical regency style story with a wallflower bluestocking reforming a rake.
But Adele Clee really mixed it up.
Start with an exceptionally gorgeous and rather jaded manly man. Throw in a 4 year old murder accusation and mystery, a bit of hanky panky in dark corners, a penchant for mythical creatures, and an exceptionally intelligent and plain speaking woman. I love how Adele Clee has changed the expectations a bit. Lucas is the objectified beauty. Helena is the veritable heroine with the ability to rationally piece together clues and accurately assess the situations she finds them in. She is able to plot and plan like a consummate strategist. I like that Helena has so much strength of character without having sacrificed Lucas' intelligence and masculinity in the process. In fact, both characters are strong individually and stronger together.
The story is easy to listen to and fun. Stevie Zimmerman has the kind of soft and expressive story-tellers voice that fits the genre.

Just too ridiculous
People surely don't think and speak as the characters in this audiobook. A pity as the narrator is very good.

Loved it.
Where does To Save a Sinner rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is one of the better regency romances I have listened to in audio.
I love a bit of intrigue and suspense in regency romances so this one fits the bill perfectly. Memorable and intelligent characters along with witty dialogue made this a charming story and one I enjoyed immensely. I will certainly be reading more from this author in the future.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved how sensible, trusting and courageous Helena was. She wasn't easily fooled and I was relieved that the author didn't use mistrust and misunderstandings to drive a wedge between Helena and Lucas. This meant that there was a nice flow to the story and the romance developed in a realistic way without tedious and dragged out arguments.
I also enjoyed the mystery and suspense. I like characters to face a little bit of danger and the scene at the museum stands out as does the scene where they unmask the villain- something that kept me guessing right up to then.
What does Stevie Zimmerman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
I've listened to a number of productions by Stevie Zimmerman and I have enjoyed them all. She has a gentle kind of way of performing her characters which makes them as likeable and charming as the author intended them to be.

No spontaneity, just ridged set pieces.
The author knows a lot about imaginative sex, but little about romance. The hero goes on about not abusing the inoccent but is willing to risk pregnancy, leaving her unmarried. The heroine doesn't belong in that time. She belongs in the 20th century. The author, like many, ignores the smell of sex and pregnancy, just like teenagers who smoke in secret.
The story is irrelevant but is overpowered by the Kama Sutra and sexual performance. Thankfully, the narrator is an improvement.
If you want sex, this is the book for you. If you want romance, look elsewhere.
