About this listen
Best-selling author, husband, father, junkie.
Elwood Cathis gave up everything for the needle. Desperate to rebuild a relationship with his daughter and ex-wife, he's come to Lake Chance, a once bustling vacation hot spot, now caught in the throes of a prolonged demise. Tainted and scarred by past events, it's a place that echoes his own existence.
Echoes....
Something echoes. It calls out, like a forgotten broadcast stuck on repeat. Something in the forest. Something infernal that only he and others like him can hear; the lost, the weak, the tormented.
Suffering with intense withdrawal and plagued by nightmarish visions, Elwood will confront the lake's dark past, and in doing so, uncover parts of himself he lost at the tip of a needle, and so much more.
A tale of love, loss, addiction, and memory, Those You Killed is the story of one man's inner turmoil becoming outer terror.

decent easy listen
One for fans of quick easy listens in the vein of Stephen King. The ending felt a little rushed, but it was a good listen

a gritty and harrowing horror thriller
this was exactly the kind of story I needed . reminiscent of Stephen King , this one deals with horror, the supernatural and the dark demons associated with drug addiction. an engaging and likeable main character and a truly terrifying story with some excellent descriptions and imagery. the narration is fantastic too, really made the whole experience even better. highly recommend

A fantastic horror offering
If you want layers upon layers of horror, suspense and mystery, then you are at the right place. Horror at its finest as the author manages to craft a terrific and terrifying story that blends tragedy and brutality unleashed over well written characters.
The story is intense, beautifully narrated, and flows great as the body count increases chapter by chapter until the very satisfying end of this horror delight that will keep you nailed on your seat.

Best debut novel ever. Swear down.
Elwood Cathis is a self pitying, melancholy son of a gun. Whisky is a cutie, the Christie woman is a pure babe, Olesk is an animal and Always is a slimy nympho.
Thomas Gloom brings all of these characters to life and it’s a joyous journey of auditory delight.

A strong and exciting horror debut
A frightening tale of addiction whose horror comes from one man's attempt at self-help whilst also dealing with a more supernatural threat.
The main character of Elwood Cathis is a very trouble man whose head we spend most of the novel in as he tries to come to terms with who he has become due his addiction and who he needs to be in order to bridge that gap caused in his relationships. On top of this Elwood is suffering with intense withdrawal and plagued by nightmarish visions.
A great setting with really well developed and interesting characters that drop in and out of the story. This doesn't read like a debut at all.
I found the book to be a slow burner and one that takes its time to set the scene and fully flesh out it's characters rather than depend on scares. This is definitely a compliment from me and I found it a really entertaining read overall.
A new and exciting author I will be sure to read again.
*A special mention does have to go the sex scene towards the end of the book. Why? Well, put simply it is one of the worst, most cringy and laughable things I've ever read. Enjoy!*
