Don’t wait-listen NOW!
I. Love. This. Audiobook.
Leone’s voice dances through the words, bringing the story to life. It’s impossible to not get caught up in the emotions of the characters in the book. Joy, innocence, expertise, honesty, irreverence, and especially childlike delight flow out of this audiobook and into your soul. The characters experiences become yours.
It feels like listening to a Popisho auntie tell you a story on her porch, eating mangoes as the waves roll in on the beach. I might just prefer it to reading the book! Honestly if you want to fully experience the world of Popisho, this is how.

Beautiful reading
Loved Leone's voice and accent. I especially loooove the dialogues and the parts when they were debating hard man and soft man dancehall style... Laughed till I cried. Leone Ross is phenomenal.

Book of the year!!!
The experience of reading #Popisho cannot be summarised in a few words. The words allow you to see, taste smell and touch so much, to feel deeply, to laugh loudly, to shed tears, to ponder questions like how much do I value my body? The many shades of love. Ty @leoneross ❤❤❤

incredible, bonkers, stunning imagery, loved it
The voice is amazing, could not stop listening, just fabulous. I really felt connected to the characters. so beautiful to listen, stimulates the imagination, makes me want to point, write, cook, sing. amazing

One of my best reads/listens EVER!
Absolutely astounding storytelling, compelling writing that seems made of magic itself, exquisitely narrated. I cannot wait to devour everything else Ross has ever written, and pray that she will one day return to the strange and irresistable world of Popisho. One of my best reads/listens EVER!

Mind-blowing... In the best ways.
It would be awkward if I didn't love this book, for reasons that are none of your business, so it's a good job I do. I have never tackled magical realism before but I'm glad I did and I remain bowled over by the beauty, the humour, the politics, the love and the food. It made me smile, I cared what happened to the characters and felt like I was there, living the day with them. And Leone read it beautifully.

This deserves 30 Stars
This book is so poetic it fair drips off the page. I can't think of a subject this book doesn't cover through the story of the retelling of One Sky Day on Poppisho, a world not to dissimilar to our own.
Definitely not one for the kids though as adult content throughout and I would also recommend reading along with audio as it helps bring the sense of place and beautiful language alive.
Above all though it's overriding message is be kind to yourself and others.

Joyous Caribbean Magic - of cors!
In this wonderful tale, several love stories intertwine in a single day in Popisho, a Caribbean archipelago where absolutely everyone has their own magic, and the PM might be Usain Bolt. Funny, heartwarming, smart and so so imaginative, a fabulous, vivid example of heartfelt outlandish Caribbean storytelling. Highly recommended.

Luscious.
This is the best novel I’ve read/listened to all year. Do heartily recommend the audible version as the performance is outstanding. I cried quite a few times, marvelled at the wisdom and wit. Thank you for opening up a new world.
