Summary

"I am Ilanna, Journeyman of House Hawk. I do the impossible."

A cunning thief of unrivaled ingenuity, Ilanna is determined to secure her freedom. Nothing will prevent her escape from the Night Guild's callous cruelty, not even the most powerful man in Praamis, Duke Phonnis.

Commanding a crew of pickpockets, bounty hunters, poisoners, and assassins, Ilanna schemes to disgrace the Duke. She must survive blackmail, a bloodthirsty rival syndicate, and enemies within her own House to claim her spoils: vengeance for the deaths of her friends and gold to buy independence.

But all Ilanna's skill may not suffice to protect the one person who matters most: her son.

Needs to invest better recording

The story is good the narration is ok but the audio quality is just terrible. Audible should have a quality control for this kind of things

Intricately planned, audacious, high-risk heist!

‘Thief of the Night Guild (Queen of Thieves Book 2)’ has a fast-moving plot and is even more action-packed than the first book in the series. Andy Peloquin has created a masterpiece of descriptive writing with an intricate storyline burgeoning with thrilling suspense, intrigue, a rollercoaster of emotions and such vividly drawn characters. This is another nail-biter from start to finish. Drawn deeply in at the start, it was like I was participating in everything that was happening myself. Rebecca McKernan’s narration is first rate and really adds that extra dimension to this fantastic dark fantasy. Once again, I just had to keep listening (even when I should have been doing other things) to find out what was going to happen next.

Ilanna’s tremendous willpower has enabled her to survive her brutal apprenticeship with the Night Guild to become a Journeyman of House Hawk and a very successful thief. Unfortunately, once the Night Guild has you, it doesn’t want to let you go, although it may agree to let you buy your freedom. However, the more successful you are, the higher the price will be as the Night Guild will be looking for compensation for lost future revenue. Ilanna desperately wants to secure her freedom because she has secretly given birth to a son, whom she has kept hidden, and she does not want him to be discovered and forced to undergo the same apprenticeship that she did. With the cost of her freedom being set ridiculously high, Ilanna hatches a highly complex plan. She has to put together a crew of hand-picked Guild members from various Houses whom she must pay for their participation in the preparation for and execution of an audacious theft from Duke Phonnis whilst still making enough out of the job to meet price of her freedom. All that on the assumption that the heist will actually be successful in spite of what appear to be insurmountable obstacles.

Dark, action-packed heist!

Thief of the Night Guild hits the ground running. It is eventful from cover to cover, with a twisting tale and a high stakes massive heist set up for its climax. This book sets the stage for the whole series with a sweeping story.

Here, Ilanna goes out of her way to pay for her freedom. She wants a new life, away from the guild, but to do so, she needs the funds, and they are enormous. She plans a heist with her fellow guild members to bring in a haul larger than they have seen in centuries. But it is not without its dangers.

Like the previous book, Thief of the Night Guild is dark, grim, and takes no prisoners. Death and suffering are abundant, and Ilanna's tale is full of grief and misery. She goes from highs to lows in a matter of seconds, with new obstacles to overcome wherever she turns.

If you are one of those who doesn't like character deaths, then consider yourself warned. Peloquin doesn't hold back in this area. Also, it ends on a cliffhanger, so beware!

Onto the next!

A Thrilling ride

The time has come for the Night Guild to repay all of the hard work Journeyman Illana has done.
But it won't come easy and not without great personal cost or sacrifices being made by others and so Peloquin and McKernan take their talents ona ride all above the streets to below them as an impossible mission keeps us on our toes at nearly every turn.
Great storywriting and an emotional account made this a reccommended listen and 5 stars as i was made to feel for all of the characters.
