About this listen
A leather-bound journal. A single father. A woman in pursuit of freedom.
Garner Bradford, heir to the troubled Bradford Shipping empire, doesn't know much about babies. But he's going to have to learn fast, because he's just become a single father to his newborn daughter. As he confesses through his journal entries, he's not entirely sure how to keep a newborn alive, whether or not he'll ever patch together his shattered heart, or how to forgive himself for his mistakes.
Career girl Kathleen Burke is wholly uninterested in settling down. She has big dreams, and none of them include Garner and his small hometown in Washington State. Yet she can't seem to get her handsome boss out of her head or her heart. There's something extraordinarily tempting about his beautifully sad green eyes....
Told through journal entries, phone conversations, and letters, Then Came You is a unique, heart-stirring romance novella by acclaimed author Becky Wade.

Wow this novella was amazing.
I am not usually a fan of novella’s as I don’t really like short stories, however the format of this book pulled me in as it’s a format I’ve never read a book in before. I really liked the format of the book and the way it told the story through letters, messages, phone conversations and journal entries.
I loved the way god’s presence was strong throughout the book without being forceful for those people who are not Christians, as a Christian myself I loved the way god’s plan just came into it’s own during the story. Kathleen wanted a career in new York and Garner just wanted to bring up his daughters and save his family business without romantic entanglements however that was not in god’s plan. It was lovely to see both these characters come to the realisations of this fact and accept what god wanted for there lives.
For a short story there was so much packed into it however I loved Garner and the way he worked to correct the mistake he’d made with Silvy and the way he focused on his kids after Robin. Although he’d been through a lot in his life it was lovely to see him really commit to god and trust in his plan. Kathleen thought she knew what she wanted and had very specific dreams however throughout the story as she grows closer to Garner it’s lovely how she begins to see what she really wants.
This was a grate introduction to Nora, Willow and Brit and now I’ve read there father’s story I’m looking forward to reading there’s. A grate introduction to the series. Before this series the only books I’d read by this author were the porter family saga which I really enjoyed. This promises to be just as good if not better.
I read this book on audible and the narration brought it to life, the fact there was a male and female narrator worked well for this book because the phone conversations were realistic as if the two people were really talking to each other rather than one person reading the dialogue for both parts. Same with letters that were written from one to the other. This was the thing that really made the book realistic for me. I’ll be back to review the rest of the series once read.
