Summary

The enchanting tale of Ratty, Mole, Badger and Toad, read by Emmy Award winner Sir Derek Jacobi. When Mole goes boating with the Water Rat instead of spring-cleaning, he discovers a new world. As well as the river and the Wild Wood, there is Toad's craze for fast travel and motor-cars that leads them all on a timeless adventure.

Brilliantly narrated by Sir Derek, a real treat!

Having never been inclined to want to read the book, Sir Derek breathes such life into the characters with his brilliant narrative, I was riveted throughout the whole story. Excellent, I'd recommend for all ages.

fast paced version

I'm a fool, call me toad of toad hall because I searched for a nice voice to read to me at night, which I found in Derek Jacob, however it was a shortened down version of the book! I was gutted because it felt so fast paced and semi rushed. I needed a long drawn out version to help me relax with my insomnia. gutted I missed the how long bit before I clicked download 😔 but great book nethertheless x X x

childhood memories wrapped up in a story.

I absolutely love this book. I will only ever listen to it if it is Derek Jacobi as it is NOT the same otherwise. I can see myself now, ages 4-9 listening to this on my pink ipod nano. Definitely worth a listen, please get this for your children, you won't be disappointed ❤❤❤

Seperb classic

I loved this and so does my daughter. Wonderfully narrated I forget this isn't real. Derek Jacobi is a master of voices and the story is a classic. Great for kids for bedtime.

Fun, fun, fun!

The loveliest audiobook ever. Sir Derek Jacobi becomes the Mole, The Rat and The Badger in the most surprisingly distinguishable fashion. Why, we must not forget The Mole. It is pure joy to observe the Mole's life and be a part of it, even if it is for such a short period of time. Pure joy, pure joy!

Fabulous

A classic, deservedly so, read by a wonderful actor. No need to have kids in the house. Just get it and enjoy.

A Grand Version of this Creature Classic

Derek Jacobi 's my top favourite as Badger. Fits the fiery, noble Victorian sage.

Too Abridged

Derek Jacobi is brilliant, naturally, one would not expect anything else. However this is not a long book and there is absolutely no need to abridge it. It is not as if it is dramatised where you might expect it to be adapted by a scriptwriter. So very good but not enough of it. The balance of the story has been so affected the spirit is lost.
