About this listen
Here is the Whitney only family would know.... Somewhere outside the glare of the concert spotlights...behind the tawdry entertainment news headlines...beyond the crush of the scandal-seeking paparazzi...lies the truth about Whitney Houston. And few individuals are better qualified to show us that complicated, funny, generous, troubled, extremely loyal Whitney than the friend she called "brother", Bebe Winans.
With obvious affection, yet remarkable transparency, Winans opens a window into their 28 years of friendship and family closeness to offer a view of the Whitney only a handful of people knew - the Whitney beyond The Voice.
The entertainment press incessantly told us what Whitney did. Now, thanks to this tender, honest account, we understand what she thought and felt. Winans' audio book is a beautifully honest portrait of this astonishingly gifted woman, offering tremendous inspiration and a deeper understanding of human nature and God's grace.

A Wonderful Back Story
As soon as I saw this book I knew I had to listen to it. It combines two loves of mine. The powerful but human story of Whitney Houston and the story telling voice of Bebe Winans. I loved this book so much that I rationed my self to make it last longer. The intimate story of this world renowned singer and actress told by one of the prolific singer-songwriter and member of one of America's celebrated gospel singing families. After the truth the tragedy of losing such a shining light in Whitney, Bebe shares pages and pages of real and comedic accounts of this lady. He carries us with breathless mirth, a succinct friendship, strong family ties, sullen sadness and the fame that made Whitney who she was. I was mersmerised by the candor of his accounts. If you were caught in the headlights of Whitney's personality, her voice, her demons, her craft and her humanness this book is the one. And if you love the smoky and the most recognised raspy and chocolaty voices in gospel music this book is for you. I recommend this book for it is a wonderful back story. I am loving it.
