Summary

The Way of the Dog is a self-help classic. It tells the story of failed salesman, Derek Stubbins, who wanders into a Grimm brothers nightmare and gets turned into a dog. He has to learn the way of the dog to get by. He has to develop the simple, clear way of thinking that a sheepdog has for its task. In doing so, he finds that he can achieve any goal he desires. It's the perfect pathway to success.

Why a dog? A dog has only two states of thought, which are happy, and waiting to be happy. When it has a task to do, it sees the beginning and the end. It doesn't become anxious or depressed at the size of the job, but just undertakes it and deals with obstacles as they come. It always succeeds.

Geoff Burch taps into the core of great personal development in The Way of the Dog. He focuses on the two big questions: what do you want to do with your life, and how do you do it? By following the way of the dog, each obstacle in your path is dealt with unfailingly, one at a time. And if you don't know where you're going or what you need to make you happy, the sheepdog will show you how to recognize a sheep and not to waste time with goats.

The Way of the Dog offers timeless, accessible, fast-paced, funny, and memorable advice. Inspiring lifestyle wisdom is brought out through simple storytelling. Plan your course through life and overcome every obstacle in your path by adopting The Way of the Dog's map to success. Unlike the instructions in flat-pack furniture, anyone can understand it; it's easy to do, and the outcome will not be a surprise or a disappointment. The Way of the Dog contains the secrets of success.

Absolutely Brilliant!!!

I hesitated when I first saw this book. Maybe it was the title. But for some reason I decided to get it anyway. A little nudge of intuition.

So glad I made the right decision. This book was so well written. Interweaving a story with some really valuable life lessons. Whilst it may seem at first to be more aimed at sales people, the lessons contained within are for everyone.

The book is simply full of great ideas and wisdom. At the same time, humerous and entertaining. It was a pleasure to listen to. So much so, I listened to the whole book in one sitting immediately after I purchased it.

Maybe not a good idea to listen to in public though. Found myself breaking into uncontrollable laughter at times, which could raise a few eyebrows.

Highly recommended. If nothing else, you'll be thoroughly entertained for a few hours. However, I'm sure anyone who takes the time to listen will get so much more from this fabulous book.

One of the few books I'll listen to several times to really soak in the knowledge that Geoff has kindly shared. Thank you. 😊

This is a brilliant book

A simple tale of a dog, who shows how humans can achieve their dreams by just acting like a normal dog, this fairy tale includes a cast of characters that portray the people you meet and want to meet in life. Geoff Burch, the author, mixes in sage advice pointing out the how’s and why’s in his own very down to earth silly but true amusing style.

Don’t let the short length put you off, if you can say it in blah there is no need for blah, blah. Geoff Burch narration adds to the story with barks, whimpers, and fruity voices.
The only thing that lets the book down is the title.
