Summary

Is your golf driving you crazy? This audiobook will tell you why.

To reach your potential as a golfer, it helps to understand two things: You need to understand the game, and you need to understand yourself.

The game is simple; get the ball in the hole as quickly as you can. It’s the second element that leaves many golfers confused.

A simple game becomes more complicated than it should be when a golfer doesn’t understand how their mind really works. This misunderstanding is revealed in the questions they ask themselves when they play or practice.

  • Why do I rarely play my best golf when I really want to?
  • Why is it so difficult to fix and improve my golf swing?
  • Why do I feel so nervous on the first tee?
  • Why do I always sabotage myself when I have a good round going?
  • Why do I enjoy golf one day but find it frustrating and hard work the next?

Many golf psychology guides offer mental strategies and techniques to cope with the apparent pressures of the game and to address how golfers feel on the golf course.

This audiobook is different. It reveals the cause of the doubts and fears rather than trying to fix the symptoms.

Listen with an open mind

I really enjoyed this book and found it extremely helpful for my golf and other areas of my life. It’s certainly not your typical golf book, and it’s important to start listening with an open mind, in order to get full benefit

A very different golf book

Having read many books on golf technique and more recently sports psychology, I found Sam Jarmans approach to the game refreshing and totally different to material I have read beforehand. Well worth looking in to.

Incredible

This book provides you with the tools to ask yourself thought provoking questions and improves your ability to self reflect on a number of perspectives whether that's golf, sport, self development or finding clarity when the mind feels fogged. Thank you!

OK

I've only given this 3 stars because although I found it interesting to start, I notice that I never completed it. I was interested in seeing how the 3 principles understanding could be applied to golf. Although I found the English regional accent somewhat grating, it was one of the best paced audiobooks I have come across. So, mixed feelings about it being read by the author!
Perhaps I will give it another go, now that we are allowed to play golf again (after lockdown).

A must for all golfers

i have been struggling with the yips so was looking for something to help as i knew the problem was in my mind rather than my technique. This book was suggested on a site i often view. i have finished the book in 5 days and my yips are still there but i have played everyday this week and enjoyed the game far more than I had in years. This book is eye opening. it reaffirmed a lot that i had sort of known but also gave me a new perspective on why i play and how to give me the best chance to play my best.

Believe me when i say, you will not regret buying this if you want to improve your golf or enjoy your golf more

Steve

Recommend

Not your usual, golf psychology audio book.if you have a good golf game but suffer from nerves and anxiety when it matters most on the golf course, give this a listen.

Inability to remain interested

This is probably the most boring narration, very monotone, and found that the psychology is difficult to feel as it seems to just go over and over mundane feelings. I couldn’t get past 3.5 episodes. I’m sure there must more interesting books, for instance Bob Repellar who keeps you engaged and focuses on golf more.
