Summary
From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Brittney Sahin comes a thrilling new standalone second-chance romantic suspense featuring a grumpy wounded warrior and the sunshine-to-his-gloomy-skies he never got over.
When Tessa finds herself in a foreign country with no clue how she got there, it’s just her luck that the only person who can help her is the same man who once broke her heart.
Gray Chandler, co-founder of Falcon Falls Security, was given a second chance at life after a helicopter crash in the Army. What he never expected was to fall for his physical therapist—his colonel’s off-limits daughter.
After sharing one hot night with Tessa, he promised himself he’d move on and never look back. But 13 years later, her late-night call for help sends him on a mission like no other. And this time, there’s no turning his back on her or his feelings.
Tessa Sloane never forgot her first physical therapy patient back in college. The handsome, rugged, and stubborn Green Beret had been a challenge, but he also stole her heart. Only to break it, leaving her unlucky in love ever since.
When Tessa bumps into Gray in her 30s, and is in need of a rescue, she’s surprised it feels as though their summer together was only yesterday. And their sizzling-hot chemistry is even stronger than before.
But in the face of danger, where old friends become new enemies, and lies and betrayal are at every corner, Gray and Tessa quickly realize “what can go wrong will".
No longer the broken man Gray thought he was, he’ll do whatever it takes to save Tessa, even if it means sacrificing their second chance at forever.

Fantastic listen!
Now this is what I love. Brittney Sahin once again captures my attention with her Falcon Falls Security series. Romantic suspense at it's best, I fell down the rabbit hole for hours as I listened. Gray is a grumpy, ex-army soldier adjusting to his new life. Learning to walk with his prosthesis is difficult, but with the help of his physical therapist, Tessa, he is on the road to recovery. She is the light to his day, but the age difference, and finding out she is the daughter of the colonel has her off limits. But one night of passion has left her unforgettable. Now years later, the two bump into each other again. Awkward to say the least, their interaction left his friend giving her his phone number, and thank goodness he did. Tessa is kidnapped, and the once free, the first person she calls is Gray. Will he be able to get to her and keep her safe? And who is pulling the strings? Sahin took me on a wild ride of danger and love. Gray and Tessa have a bond that is unbreakable, and now is their second chance at love. The suspense is high, with surprising twists and unforeseen happenings. I was on edge, trying to figure out the answers, but up until the very end, it kept me in the dark. A fantastic addition to this series, I was captivated and loved every minute.
Aiden Snow and Kit Swann could not have been more perfectly cast as Gray and Tessa. This role for Snow is gives him the versatility to be that grumpy alpha, yet have the marshmallow center. I love how broody he can be, yet still keep that vulnerable edge. Swann is amazing as Tessa. Smart, brave and adaptable, she finds the best voice to keep her from breaking, and gives her that loving feel whenever near Gray. I loved these two together and enjoyed the listen.

Incredible Story!!
Not exactly sure how Brittney Sahin does it, but book after book, story after story, just when you think she’s at the top of her game, with every new book Brittney writes she smashes your expectations.
Book 4 in the Falcon Falls, The Taken One, is evidence of that.
This is Gray and Tessa’s second chance and it was everything I hoped it would be.
Exciting and suspenseful storytelling full of emotional twists and turns has the reader invested from page one until the epilogue. The sexual tension between Gray and Tessa is 13 years in the making and for those looking for spice, these two definitely have it!!
Fans of Brittney’s series’s will love all the cameo’s from and hints on who we can hope to read in the next book!
Am definitely looking forward to who ever’s story is next!!

I liked this grumpy/sunshine story!
This was my first Brittney Sahin's book. This is the fourth book in the Falcon Falls Security Series, a thrilling standalone second-chance romantic suspense. I liked this grumpy/sunshine story. Gray and Tessa's age gap romance is complex, intriguing, and entertaining, filled with danger, action, adventure, and passion. Excellent narration from Aiden Snow, and Kit Swann. They are both amazing narrators. Looking forward to more in the series.

Terrific Story & Listen🎧Gripping & Emotional!
This fantastic romantic suspense is captivating from start to end and I loved everything about it, from Britney Sahin’s wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines she created to the perfect cast narrators who bring is all to life from the pages to your ears. This book is the fourth in the series but stands on its own, sometimes when you jump into an existing series you feel like something is missing, i.e. world building, but no worries here, everything you need to know is detailed. Though I am excited to check out the earlier books in the series, as well as her other series. “The Taken One” is Gray Chandler and Tessa Sloane’s story, and wow, what a story it is. Gray, former military, was injured while serving in the US Army, he recovered from his injuries and is going to physical therapy to learn to walk again with his new prosthesis. He and the therapist he worked with grew a special bond, but she is leaving to finish school and when he goes to say goodbye to her, he learns she is his colonel’s daughter and completely off-limits. Despite the colonel warning him to stay away from her, their goodbye turned into a memorable night, one neither one forgot. Fast forward eleven years, they run into each other again, she and her friend have their own practice and Gray is considering moving back to town. Because of a misunderstanding, their run in was cordial but brief, but a friend of Gray saw his reaction to her and wound up giving Tessa his number in case she ever wanted to call, which she contemplated doing but never did. That was until she had to, she was in deep trouble, injured in another country with no memory of how she got there or what happened in the last week, with no phone she only had two numbers memorized, one was not an option the other was Gray’s, so she called him and a good thing she did because she is in way over her head and she does not have a clue of how, why and who is after her. With Gray and his team on her side, they vow to protect her and find investigate what is going on. I loved the complexity and layers of the story, the plotting and world building is fantastic, as are the character growth and development. There is never a dull moment, and it has the perfect balance of drama, angst, action, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a wonderful second chance romance. Britney Sahin, thank you for this fantastic story and the wild, take me to the edge of my seat, ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Aiden Snow and Kit Swann are the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that suited that character, and were believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance, making you feel every single one. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

A top listen of the year!
Brittney just has a way of sucking you into her stories and never letting you go. The details, the twists and turns, everything leaves you on the edge of your seat, not knowing what to expect. You fall in love with her characters, but you also fall in love with her storytelling. She just has a way of creating stories that stick with you and keep you engrossed until the very end. The Taken One was no different. I have been excited for Gray's story for quite some time but especially after The Guarded One. He was that character that you just wanted to know more about because he was always hiding behind his closed off exterior. Well, getting to know him was exactly what I wanted and needed! Tessa was just so realistic and I loved everything about her. I could relate to her so much and I loved the tension between her and Gray! This audiobook has blown me away and the narrators, Aidan Snow and Kit Sawnn were amazing as Grey and Tessa. I didn't care as much for Kit's male voice, but it didn't take away from the story and it's compeltely a personal opinon. Overall, this auidobook blew me away and has become a favourite. Definitely one of the best listens of the year!

Gripping Suspense Listen
This was a gripping suspense listen that kept me guessing until the end! So many twists and turns throughout and many I didn’t see coming. Action packed story that was beautifully written and executed so well by the narrators. I adored Gray and Tessa, they had some fun banter, undeniable chemistry, and an easy friendship that was always meant for more! Tessa was a fun character and she was relatable with her klutzy tendencies and rambling word vomit.
Narrators - Aiden Snow and Kit Swann made this a great listen and felt they were cast perfectly for this book couple.

Amazing book
Well I’m so happy to finally read Grey’s story. I knew it would blow my mind but this was amazing. We get to see all his stages of recovery and progression. Not only that we see him grow into the man he is today. He and Tessa are perfect together. Their story holds drama, suspense, intrigue and love at last realised. Once I start a Brittney Sahin book I Know I won’t want to put it down. Same thing again stayed up way too late again! I couldn’t put it down. As always our favourite characters play a big part in the overall story arc I’m wondering who’s next? Hmmm . Great book, wonderful narration too. It brings the whole story alive

An incredible second chance romantic suspense
The Taken One is the fourth instalment in the Falcon Falls Security series and is the second chance, forced proximity, romantic suspense story of Gray Chandler and Tessa Sloane.
Gray, co-founder of Falcon Falls Security, was given a second chance at life after a helicopter crash in the Army prematurely ended his career. However, he never expected to fall for his physio therapist Tessa, a woman who pushes him physically and mentally, who turns out to be his colonels off limits daughter. The same colonel who ordered Gray and his team to leave teammates behind which resulted in them being on the helicopter in the first place. After sharing one hot passionate night with Tessa, he promised he’s walk away, move on, and never look. However, thirteen years later he bumps into Tessa again in Washington DC, it throws him for a loop, but when a call comes in from Tessa almost a week later and she’s in need of rescuing, Gray doesn’t hesitate to run to her. This time Gray has no intention of fighting his feelings or turning his book on her again.
Tessa Sloane has never forgotten her first physiotherapy patient. The ruggedly handsome, recalcitrant former Green Beret was extremely challenging but that didn’t stop Tessa from falling for him. Only after an amazing summer together and one spectacular night, he left and broke her heart, leaving her unlucky in love ever since. Fast forward thirteen years, Tessa is now in her thirties and when she needs rescuing, the only person she wants to reach out to is Gray who, to her relief, goes running to her rescue and their sizzling-hot passionate chemistry is stronger than it was that summer thirteen years ago. Danger. lies and betrayal pave the way for Gray and Tessa. Will Gray be able to save Tessa without sacrificing their second chance at forever.
The magnificently talented Aiden Snow and Kit Swan take Brittney’s words from page to audio and what a powerhouse duo they make.
Aiden’s performance as the grumpy, protective former Green Beret is incredible, his strong, deep baritone was perfect to showcase the man who will do anything to defend those he loves. Kit’s portrayal of the sweet and sunshiny physiotherapist was amazing. Her soft dulcet tone personified Tessa and her kind, caring, charming nature.
This was my first Brittney Sahin title and holy hell; I’ve just filled my TBR with the rest of her books. Her writing style and storytelling had me captivated from the very first word to the last. I’m a huge romantic suspense fan and find some to be predictable and repetitive, however, this book was a refreshing change. Hands down, this is my favourite romantic suspense to date this year.
If you love a fallen hero/patient forced proximity, romantic suspense, second chance romance that is a world away from the typical second chance trope, with a plot that builds angst, anticipation and suspense throughout the entire book that climaxes to the perfect HEA then this is the book for you.
I blooming loved this audiobook, I cannot wait to dive into the rest of this series. Brittney Sahin is now a one-click author for me.
