This Starfish Box Set Rocks! Outstanding Listen🎧
I am a huge fan of Rock Stars and Rock Star Romance novels and Lisa Becker’s Starfish series is one of my favorites. Ms. Becker is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, I loved the characters and storylines she created, they are original and unique, nope they are not your typical angsty rockstars they are so much more. In the first book, “Starfish” you not only meet the members of the band “Kings Quarters” but you join them on tour as well. You will fall in love with each one of them, Jase, Johnny, Oliver, Craig and Brad. Marin is interning with a public relations firm, while it was not her choice assignment she gets to tour with the band for the summer. The second book, “Dear Future Self” is Jase & Cami’s story, it is a fabulous second chance story with interesting storylines that are unique and original. The third book, “Joke’s on You” is Oliver & Rowan’s story, a fitting title for Oliver since he was the prankster of the band. He finally finds his special someone but he kind of has his work cut out for him. I loved each one of these books, it is great to get lost in Lisa Becker’s stories and the world she built. More detailed reviews for each book follows.
Starfish ~ Narrated by: Erin Mallon, Sebastian York
I loved everything about this book, from Lisa Becker’s wonderful writing style to the characters and storylines and she created to Erin Mallon & Sebastian York’s amazing narration. Heck, I even love the title and the story behind it. ;) I am a huge fan of Rock Star romance books and Lisa Becker does not disappoint, her storylines are original and different then your typical angsty romance, which I found refreshing in many ways. The characters are complex and well developed. I adored Marin and Brad as well as his bandmates. I loved the camaraderie amongst the band members and the pranks they played. Marin landed a much wanted summer internship with the public relations firm. She was excited thinking she will be doing P.R for a tech company in Seattle. But when she and the other interns received their assignment she learned her assignment was changed, she would be working with and going on tour with “Kings Quarters”, an up and coming rock band. She got to meet the manager, Damon and band members Jase, Johnny, Oliver, Craig and Brad just before going on their bus for a four month tour. Brad was instantly attracted to her, she was attracted to him too but vowed to never get involved with someone she works for and will keep it completely professional. These two were great together and for each other, they become good friends & confidants. He wanted to take their relationship to another level and knew she was afraid but he is a patient man. I loved how well plotted this book is, a lot goes on and there is never a dull moment. There is plenty of drama, a bit of angst, some great humor, some heartfelt moments, heartbreaking ones, twists with betrayals as well as a slow burn romance. Lisa Becker, thank you for this awesome story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride.
Dear Future Self: A Starfish Novella ~Narrated by: Tim Paige, Kelsey Navarro
One of the reasons I loved “Starfish”, the first book in the series was the amazing characters, I was so happy to hear Lisa Becker was not done with them. Jase Connors was the lead singer of “Kings Quarter” before the band imploded, Damon, the band’s manager took Jase out on his own and he became a successful solo artists. While on tour his Mom calls to inform him Mr. Hancock, his HS teacher who he had a good relationship with, passed away. Jase returned home for the funeral, he also learns Mr. Hancock left something in his will for him. Cami Ossining was good friends with Jase, they’ve known each other since they were young kids, she knew him when he was just Jason McNamara, the kid next door and boy she crushed on, but he went on to be famous and forgot all about her. When Jase went to the reading of the will she was there, while he was glad to see her, she was not thrilled to see him and he could not understand why until he realized how he treated and ignored her. But the two had to work together to follow thru on Mr. Hancock’s last wishes. I loved how everything plays out in this book, also love how much story Lisa Becker managed to fit in this novella sized book. It is well written and cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, a bit of angst, some heartfelt moments and some hot romance. It was great to hear a little about Brad and Marin, great to see Damon has not changed his conniving ways, too NOT! So glad all works out in the end and they get their happily ever after. Thank you for another awesome story, I loved the premise of “Dear Future Self”, loved Cami and Jase’s letters too and Mr. Hancock’s sly move. 🎧📚🎧 Lisa Becker chose the perfect cast to bring this story and its characters to life, Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro are talented narrators and voice artists. Tim Paige is a rock star, he portrayed Jason perfectly, captured his personality and all his emotions which can be heard in his performance, he did a great job with all the other characters too. Kelsey Navarro knocked it out of the park in the final chapter with Mia’s POV, she too grasped her character’s persona perfectly.
Joke’s On You ~ Narrated by: Stella Hunter, Connor Crais
Oliver Eastland was the prankster of the bunch and one of my favorite characters. And I am so happy that he got his own book, it is great to see him again and to learn more of who he is and where life has taken him. If you have not started this series I highly recommend that you do and now is the perfect time because it is offered in a box set. Oliver is doing well for himself these days, each member went their own way after Kings Quarters split up. Oliver a musical prodigy still makes music and plays, he always liked to stay in the background so instead of joining a band he just tours with them. One night he decides to go out with the band after a photo shoot. It is a gay club and he was not expecting to meet any one but he does, he meets and hooks up with Rowan Edwards. Rowan Edwards works as an assistant photo editor, it is not what she wants to do but it pays her bills. Her dream job is something she does on the side, she designs her own jewelry and one day it will pay her bills. She is good at her photography gob but has a boss who is inappropriate, she deals with him for now but she is smart about how she handles him. After a bad day at work she and her roommate and best friend Rolando go out for drinks at Haven, a hot gay club. Rowan does not normally do one night stands but she and Oliver hit is off, there was something about him that drew her to him. They had one hot night together but she left in the morning without a word. Oliver knew he had to see her again and did just that. This may be a novella sized book but it sure does pack a whole lot of story, I loved the witty dialogue and how everything plays out. The story is cleverly plotted with drama, a touch of angst, humor, heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. 🎧📚🎧 Stella Hunter and Connor Crais are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They do an awesome job portraying these characters, humanizing them as they bring them and their story to life. I love how they take each role and make it their own while sounding natural and believable in that role. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They set the perfect tone for the story, handle the witty dialogue with ease and land the humor flawlessly.

Starfish
If you are looking for a story that has a great foundation, a fantastic slow burn, wonderful characters and an incredible narrating team, then you have found the book for you! Starfish features Marin, a woman who thought she was getting the perfect tech internship, only to find herself on a tour bus chronicling the life and times of a rock band. She was not ready for this, but was going to make the best of this four month stint. Brad, the lead guitarist of the rock band immediately felt an attraction, but with the reputation of a rocker and the aloofness of Marin, he decided to take it slow. And this burn was just that. I was invested in their story, willing to follow them from city to city and see the romance grow. Lisa Becker didn't dwell on the paparazzi or dealing with being famous, but wrote a true love story about real people. It's so easy to fall for the image, but this let us be on the inside, get to know Brad and his dreams. It's a refreshing look at the possibilities we don't know as the fans, and I am so glad we got to tour with them! The narration team of Erin Mallon and Sebastian York is a dream. They brought this story to life, enhancing the characters with their voices, and let us develop an image of them. I love both and really enjoyed their performance.
Dear Future Self: A Starfish Novella
Jason comes home to the reading of a will from one of his teachers and meets up with his old best friend, Cami. And the sparks fly. Hurt, miscommunications, lust and just good old history meld these two together in a way that only Lisa Becker can bring out. I was captivated by the two. I loved Jase. He is exactly as I picture a famous rock star, a little full of himself, generous but realizing there is more to life. I love Cami. She is secure in her life, loves being a music teacher and knows her feelings. I loved the Girl Scout, give me a box of thin mints any day, and the Dear Future Self letters. It's so much fun to see your past you! It's a quick listen, it's fun, humorous and a great way to spend a couple of hours! Tim Paige is a fantastic story teller and he brings all the characters to life. He gives Jase the perfect voice. A little cocky, yet very and makes him very believable. He quickly can change to Cami, and bring her feelings to light. Add in the end with some fun with Kelsey Navarro and this novella rocks it!
Joke's On You
I am not sure how Lisa Becker does it, but his novella has stolen my heart in 2 hours! Oliver is the piano player for a popular rock band. Rowan is a photographer looking for a night of fun. Not one for one night stands, she can't resist the charms of Oliver, but before we awakes, she is gone leaving him a note. Does this deter him? No, and his persistence is worth it. A romance where love for the person is forefront, relevant work situations brought to light and music make this a great listen! I loved it! Connor Crais and Stella Hunter are such fantastic story tellers, and they fell into character with ease. Crais has an easy warmth that came through in Oliver. I enjoyed hi romancing Rowan. Rowan is strong in some scenes and frightened in others and Hunter brings all the different feelings out. I enjoy his team whenever they perform together and this casting was spot on!

Fun rockstar romances
Starfish - 5 stars
A great light and sexy romcom. Enjoyed all the characters and storyline. Recommend.
Dear Future Self - 4.5 stars
Sweet novella
Loved that this was all in the male POV (FYI, audio all Tim Paige and only the epilogue was Kelsey Navarro).
Jokes on you - 4 stars
Fun novella
I enjoyed it but was my least favorite. The sexual harassment was too much for this short story but enjoyed everything else. A fun finish to the excellent series!
Narration was excellent for every story- great choices for all the characters.
