About this listen

At some point today you will have to influence or persuade someone - perhaps ask a colleague a favour, negotiate with a contractor or get your spouse to put out the recycling.

In The Small BIG, three heavyweights from the world of persuasion, science and practice - Steve Martin, Noah Goldstein and Robert Cialdini - describe how, in today's information-overloaded world, it is now the smallest changes that lead to the biggest differences in results.

Offering deceptively simple suggestions and explaining the extensive scientific research behind them, The Small BIG presents over fifty small changes - from the little adjustments that make meetings more effective to the costless alteration to correspondence that saved a government millions.

The Small BIG is full of surprising, powerful - and above all, tiny - changes that could mean the difference between failure and success.

Big things come in small packages.

A fascinating look into how the smallest of changes can influence the outcome of interactions with people. This audiobook contains 52 small influence techniques that anyone can use, I have already started to use a few and have seen an improvement in my ability to persuade people. None of the techniques are underhanded and all are backed by psychological studies.

The narration of this book is enjoyable to listen to and although, the English narrator's attempt at an American accent for certain quotes is not the best, it adds to the underlying humour of some of the material.

A wholly enjoyable and informative audiobook.

not a bad book found a lot of repeat themes, could just be Amazon echo not syncing properly I was thinking I've heard this before at least once already

Interesting

Useful and at times fascinating content, which I've already applied in my own career. The only negative really was the incessant repetition of the title throughout every chapter, and the strange faux accent put on at certain points. I'd recommend it regardless, but it does grate.

Packed with great stuff

Another brilliant book packed with 50 influencing techniques. The only reason I've not given it another star is I'd have liked slightly more explanation of each technique or more examples.

Great book

Really enjoyed this, narration a bit slow but just increased speed and it was fine.

I finished this book today

The claims made in this book are actionable, and for the most part backed up by an apparent study (I guess you could check them if you’re cynical).

Even if you never use the contents, and given their wide applicability I think this is unlikely, the techniques and often counter-intuitive results are interesting at the very least.

I am glad I listened to it.

An excellent overview of persuasion

As it has been broken down Ito chunks, this book lends itself well to the audiobook format.
I've just finished it, and found the insights valuable to my field (Primary Care).
I will almost certainly listen again.
The only thing I think that could be improved would for the narrator to avoid trying to use accents. It doesn't add anything and, in my opinion, detracts from the material.

A real gem.

Or I would decide it as a Swiss Army Knife not just useful for your professional but also your personal life.

pretty good, easy to do piecemeal

yeah it provides examples, maybe not all of them are perfect but they're just simple little concepts of how not to be a forceful deceptive person.
