About this listen
For Eve, Irene, Betty, and Rosemary, working at the exclusive Heyworth's department store in Cambridge is a dream come true. Once the girls step inside the elegant building, the hardships of their own lives are temporarily forgotten.
Serving a variety of customers, from glamorous gypsy queens to royalty and the city's fashionable elite, the store is a place where these young women can forge successful careers under the ever-watchful eye of flamboyant owner Mr Heyworth.

Interesting account
I quite enjoyed this listen but I found it to be more like a documentary than a story. It was an interesting account of the ladies stories of their time as shopgirls at Hayworth's. As a big fan of the TV series Mr. Selfridge I'd hoped it would be a fast paced story like that but it's a much tamer version. I also found there was a lot of repetition which was irritating in an audio book because I kept thinking I'd accidentally skipped back to a previous chapter. Other than that I did think it was nice to hear snippets of these women's lives.
