Summary
The second part of the Witch-Hunter series.
The world has been thrown into darkness by the Shadow Witch's revolution. The witch-hunters are scattered, but still strong. The race is now on to gather allies and win the war. New enemies will arise; loyalties will be pushed to the limit. And an important question will be answered: Can a witch-hunter who practices magic ever be trusted, or will he be persecuted?
It is said "love conquers all", but this twisted love must stay secret, locked away with the past.

A great modern day Witch hunt!
Absolutely loved the first book and was so glad to get into the second!
Really, really enjoyed the continuation of the story in which is now set in an almost apocalyptic England.
James, again does a fantastic job with his narration, having given all the characters great accents and personalities!
Again, simply great and can’t wait for the next installement!
This is my honest opinion of a free review copy.

An excellent sequel
Set in the direct aftermath of the events in "The Shadow Rises" this books chronicles the war continued war between the witch hunters and witches who are emboldened by the return of the shadow witch.
An entertaining story which continues to build on the world we are introduced to in book 1.
I was given this book free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review.

Intriguing
The great narration really suits Hunter the main witch hunter. This is an intriguing tale of forbidden love between 2 very strong characters on opposite sides of the war. It is very interesting that the witch hunter develops magic which normally defines a witch and other people's attitude towards him using magic. WOW what an ending! I really look forward to seeing what happens to Hunter next.

The war
K S Marsden writes in a way that quickly endears you to the many characters on both sides and you soon feel for them and mourn them as the war progresses.
Johnathan Ip gives life to the characters and is easy on the ears to listen to.
A short middle book with twists and questions you want answered, it keeps you intrigued and the final book I look forward too.
The book doesn't get five stars as it is such a short book.

Book 2
I was given a free copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest and voluntary review
Where to start, this 2nd installment is just as good as the 1st, pleanty of depth and great detail. the characters are still thoroughly believable. its definitely got everything youd want in a good sequel and more.
The narration is faultless, perfectly apt. Jonathan brings this fantastic book to life.
I'd definitely recommend this book.

Did not capture me
This is the second book in a three part series. I listened to this book without reading the first, which was a mistake. Missing the first book made it challenging to follow this one although the author attempted to provide pertinent information. I found this book challenging to get through. Not much really happened. The Witch-Hunters attempted to recover from the their massive losses in the last book. The most exciting part was the battle at the end, but the book is left more or less hanging for the third installment. I did not find any of the characters particularly likeable and the few I did care about got killed off.
It may be that this story would read better starting from the beginning. It was generally well written, but just did not keep my attention well. I will not follow up with the next book.
Jonathan Ip did a credible job with the narration.

Obsessed with Hunter and Sophie realising they are not so different
I cant believe how dark this book got, in fact I needed to recover from the harsh reality that Hunter and Sophie are well and truly at war, no prisoners left to take...
They are both pawns in the end, but will they finally see it ?
Love the narrator voice. Perfect match for the mood of the book... Thank you.
