Summary

No other book in history has done more to clarify the esoteric, mystical, and occult traditions of the world than Manly P. Hall's The Secret Teachings of All Ages.

Now, historian Mitch Horowitz provides the first companion work to Hall's opus. The Seeker's Guide to The Secret Teachings of All Ages helps 21st-century audiences enter and experience (or reexperience) Hall's hallowed pages and also clarifies and expands on some of the book's key themes and topics.

Mitch explores developments and historical discoveries since Hall published his "Great Book" nearly a century ago and adds fresh dimensions to subjects, including:

  • The antiquity and legacy of ancient Egypt
  • The mystical origins of the world's major faiths
  • Strange beasts and anomalies in history and today
  • The origins and esotericism of Tarot

The Secret Teachings of All Ages in broad strokes

Having never so much as attempted to read the Secret Teachings of All Ages this guide felt like a good way to dip my toes in. It gives one a glimpse into the nature of the original script, although by the sound of it the original was so vast and so complex that it really just is a glimpse. Horowitz paints a beautiful picture of Manly P. Hall and the amazing achievement that writing the Secret Teachings of All Ages was, and how young he had been in doing so. Horowitz also comes across as an empathetic spiritual teacher who has himself spent many years unpacking the content of this book, which by the sounds of it takes in the spiritual learnings of myriad societies over myriad ages. It was cool and definitely makes me want to dive into the original.

Great overview of all things lost

It introduced a lot of new (old) teachings, that led me to delve into more of the same. A must listen for anyone seeking answers to questions they might not have. Top for a freebie.

Religious and mystical enquirier

Don’t normally write a review felt mystically write one. As a philosopher and enquirer this simple but cohesive review of Manly Hall book is great place start for average seeker who hasn’t much knowledge of different esoteric traditions
